Sometimes I Sew...

Not really any quilting to speak of around here.  My bobbin winder has been acting up so I had to send it in for repair.  I can't wind any bobbins for my longarm right now, and my thread order with some prewound bobbins hasn't appeared yet, so I have taken the time to do some sewing.  My daughter's high school is doing Grease this spring and I have been asked to help with costumes.

Eight angel dresses for the girls in Beauty School Drop Out.

And the first of four Pink Lady jackets.

It is kind of fun to sew costumes every once in a while.  In the background of those pictures you can see some more suspended ceiling that has gone up and the hallway is painted. Slow and steady goes the reno! You can also see a sneak peak of Robin's quilt that is loaded and waiting for the thread to arrive.

Curve It Up #10

Here is the latest block in the Curve It Up quilt along. Only two more to go!

Work on the basement renovation continues, but weekends just aren't long enough. No school here today so helper #2 did her part and removed the wall paper backing to help speed things up!

Smokey River Quilt

I had the privilege of quilting my Guild's raffle quilt this year.  The pattern is called Smokey River.  Many hands took part in the sewing of this quilt and I am pleased to say that it turned out flat and square and was a pleasure to work on (way to go ladies!)  The weather was not cooperating today, so I didn't get the best pictures.

I decided to quilt the body of the quilt with the "Come Dance With Me" panto.  The piecing and fabric in this section of the quilt are quite busy and it just needed some nice texture.

I want to make the borders special and gave them the custom treatment with curved cross hatching in the blue triangles, CCs in the nine patches, some curls int he narrow border and finely the curved echo border that I have been waiting to try since I got my boomerang rulers.  I am very please with the results, but wow am I slow when it comes to working with rulers!

The backing is a coordinating blue Stonehenge fabric.  I used So Fine Thread and Quilter's Dream Blend batting.

We will be making the draw for this quilt at our Quilt Show at the end of September   I have tickets for sale if you think it might look good at your house ;)!

On The Machine Today...

I finally have a quilt on the frame again. Here is a sneak peak.
