Butterflies and Bloooms

I recently had the pleasure of quilting this lovely for Liane.  The pattern is called Butterflies and Blooms and is from Happy Cloud Creations.

Liane selected the Fanicful Fliers pantograph and an off white thread.  I think the scale and theme of the pantograph looks great on both the front and the backing fabric that Liane chose.

Free Fall

This beautiful quilt was made by Megan is currently on display at Keystone Modern Creative as a shop sample.  The pattern is called Free Fall by Villa Rosa Designs, and kits are available in this gorgeous Aged Muslin from Marcus Fabrics.

Megan let me choose a quilting design on this one and I thought the Fascination pantograph would be a lovely finish.  I used a cream thread on the front and a plum thread on the back to match the gorgeous Fireside backing.

Ukrainian Sunflower

Mary brought two lovely quilts that she made with the intention of donating away through her local quilt guild.  First up is this beautiful sunflower quilt.  The pattern is a free download from Sugar Free Quilts called "Ukrainian Sunflower."

Mary knew that she wanted a design with some hearts on it and quickly decided on the Pieces of My Heart pantograph.  We used a murky green thread that blended well across the quilt.  The Cuddletex backing fabric that she brought quilted up very nicely.  This was the first time I quilted the exact product to my knowledge.  It is very similar to Fireside.

The second quilt was part of a mystery scrap challenge.  Mary selected the Gingersnap pantograph for this one.

Blue and Green Shall Never Be Seen

This unique quilt with a fun name was made by Shelly.  All of the small double sawtooth star blocks were made for Shelly by members of a Queen Bee swap group that we are both participating in this year.  If you haven't heard of this kind of swap it is pretty simple and lots of fun.  First gather up to 12 quilting friends (we have 10 this time around) and assign everyone a month to be the Queen.  The Queen selects a block and gives some indication of color preferences and each of the other members make 2 blocks and mail them to the Queen in her month. Shelly received these blocks in March and this was the pattern she sent us to use.  Growing up Shelly was told "blue and green should never never be seen" when it came to matching up colors, so she had to request blue and green blocks!

Shelly did some successful quilty math to piece to large centre star.  Shelly had a real vision to keep this quilt feeling modern which is her style.  She knew she wanted vertical lines and loved the idea of keeping them relaxed and casual by keeping the spacing organic and random.  We also wanted to make sure the end product wasn't too stiff by quilting them too close together.

I have to say once again that I love my Innova longarm.  I am able to balance my tension well enough to confidently use a cream thread on the top and a navy thread on the back.

Shelly is keeping this quilt for her own bed and I hope it is a happy memory of a fun block swap for years to come.

Sparrows

Shelly made this fun quilt for a special little girl in her life.  The pattern is called Sparrows by Pen and Paper patterns.

Shelly selected the Fanciful Fliers pantograph and I think it looks especially lovely on the solid purple flannel backing fabric.

Two For Margaret

Margret brought two lovely quilts  and first up is this Snowball quilt.  The lovely fabric is from the Bee Grateful collection by Deb Strain for Moda.  Margaret selected the Fanciful Fliers pantograph and asked me to leave the border cornerstones empty so she could add some embroidery.

And the backing is a great way to use up some leftover fabric for the top.

The second quilt is the Twilight Lake Quilt #2 which is a free pattern from Henry Glass Fabrics.

Margaret selected the Tickle pantograph for this one and we used an amazing chameleon thread - Sew Fine #489 "Lewis and Clark". It seemed to blend perfectly with all of the colors in the top.  This quilt looks cozy and perfect for Margaret's lakeside home.

Celtic Crossing

Shalane sent the fabulous quilt and I have to say I absolutely love it!  The pattern is called Celtic Crossing from Lo & Behold Stitchery.  The fabrics are from a beautiful line designed for Art Gallery Fabrics by Sharon Holland called Kismet.

Shalance requested the Tickle pantograph and a thread similar to the color of her backing fabric.  I think the end result is just perfect.

Baby Lone Star

Reneta made this baby sized Lone Star quilt using a really fun fabric line from Art Gallery Fabrics called Little Forester Fusion.  The quilt measures abut 50" square so is a nice generous baby/toddler/lap size.

I used the Oak Breeze pantograph for the quilting and a turquoise thread that matched the background fabric.

Dance

This fun quilt with a bit of a groovy retro vibe was brought to me by Brittney.  The pattern is called "Dance" and is from Melissa Marginet.

Brittney selected the Sweet Pea pantograph.  I think it adds a nice delicate touch and some great movement. I love the flannel backing that Brittney supplied.  It is from the Gloria line from Art Gallery fabrics and it felt wonderful.

I know Brittney made this quilt for someone special and I'm sure the recipient will be thrilled to receive it!
