Bear Chase

This beauty made entirely of batiks was made by Margaret.  The pattern is called Bear Chase by Glad Creations.

Margaret made this quilt for her daughter.  She chose the flowing Bora Bora pantograph which adds some softness to the top.

The backing fabric that Margaret provided is a Stonehenge Gradations wide back from Northcott.  It really added something special to the back of this quilt.

Calico Mushrooms

This fun quilt was made by Lynette.  The pattern is called Calico Mushrooms from Lori Holt's Scrappiness is Happiness book.

Lynette has done a lot of sewing, but this was her first quilting project at the urging of her neighbour Margaret.  Margaret also made a version of this quilt and the two of them had fun digging in Margaret's stash for find all the fun fabrics for the mushroom caps.

Lynette chose the Oak Breeze pantograph and I absolutely love how it looks in the wide border framing this quilt.

Daisy Chain

Mitzy brought this vibrant quilt.  The pattern is called Daisy Chain from Melissa Marginet.

The focus fabric she chose is a really cool beaded flower print, which guided the decision to use the floral themed Dainty pantograph.  We tested a variety of thread colors before settling on So Fine #450 - Spring Green.  It blended well into all the fabrics and didn't draw too much attention to itself.

Super Mario

This epic quilt was made by Reneta. The entire design is made up of individual squares.   All of the squares in this quilt finish at 1" and there are more than 7300 of them!!!  She purchased the kit from Mad about Patchwork that includes a layout guide by Nichole Dunigan.  (The kit is even on sale right now if you need to add an epic project to your list.)

Reneta had been working on this quilt for awhile and the last time I purchased some new pantogrpah I spotted the  Benay's Starry pantograph from Beany Girl Designs which I thought might be just perfect for this quilt.  Reneta agreed and I do love how it looks.

Picking thread for quilts with such large contrasts in colour is always a bit head scratching.  We decided to go with the sky blue that matched the centre of the quilt and found that it really wasn't too distracting across the rest of the quilt.

Enjoy the rest of the photos that show off all the characters and piecing that are part of this quilt.

Through My Window

Things have been pretty quiet here on the blog this summer.  I have been doing some quilting but enjoying lots of time outside instead of on my computer so I haven't been sharing what I have been up to.  On the rainy day I decided it was time that I started to get caught up!

Becky brought this pretty throw sized "Through My Window" quilt from Busy Hands quilting.  She bought this as a kit from Connecting Threads.  It s a gift for her niece who graduated this year.

Becky chose the Tickle pantograph and I love the movement it adds to the quilt top, and it shows up so beautifully on the pretty turquoise backing.
