Christmas Round Robin

Joanne participated in a Round Robin through the Canadian Quilters Association, and this beauty is now hers.  Joanne made the centre block with the black and white border and white corner stones and then it got mailed off to a series of strangers who added additional borders before it was returned to her.

Joanne requested a Christmas theme and loves scrappy quilts and wow did the participants in her group deliver.  There are so many wonderful fabrics, beautiful piecing and applique.  Joanne was just thrilled.

Joanne chose the Soho pantograph and my favorite gold thread - Magnifico 2063 Clover Honey.  It just continued the theme and I really love the final look.

Joanne dug into her stash for the backing.  She pieced together some coordinates that she loved but hadn't found their way into a quilt yet. They weren't her first choice to match the top, but she loved them and the quilt is for her couch during the holidays so why not?!

Marion's Braid

Marion made this beautiful braid quilt.  At first I thought she started with a jelly roll, but it turns out that she utilized her scraps and some friends scraps from projects made from Northcott’s Passion collection.  Add a few blenders and some additional fabric for the frames and sashing and magic happened.

This will be a wedding gift for Marion's niece and she decided to add this lovely teal Cuddletex backing to make it extra cozy for cuddling under on the couch.  The Fanciful Fliers pantograph adds nice movement and fits the theme really well.

Video Game Scrap Patch

Julie made this fantastic quilt for her grandson in a video game theme.  Julie started with the Scrap Patch pattern from the Quilter's Cache (10" block)  The suggested setting had straight set blocks with no sashing.  Julie said it looked totally chaotic and she hated it.  But by putting the blocks on point and adding the black sashing it was totally transformed.

Julie selected the Cool Beans pantograph and a vibrant green flannel backing.  I love how bold and fun it is.

Blue Jays Heartland

Julie made this quilt for her grandson.  Can you guess who his favorite team is?

Julie used a 3 yard quilt pattern from The Fabric Cafe called Heartland.  It is available as a stand alone pattern or in the book "Pretty Darn Quick 3 Yard Quilts."

Julie selected the Love Those Curls Pantograph. I know Julie's grandson was anxiously awaiting its completion and was very happy with the quilt.

Wanda's Sparrows

Wanda made this stunning Sparrows quilt.  The pattern is by Pen & Paper Patterns.   The navy background fabric is a beautiful compliment to the bird fabrics that came from the Tilda Cotton Beach collection (and a few from Wanda’s stash).

Wanda selected the Bora Bora pantograph which adds some nice "windy" texture to the quilt.

She added this cozy grey Fireside backing and a wool batt for extra loft and coziness.

Broken Wheel

Wanda made this Broken Wheel quilt.   The quilt was inspired by the border fabric that Wanda loves and was purchased for her by someone special.

Wanda selected the Gatsby pantograph.  It isn't a pantograph I get to use all that often, but I feel it suits this quilt just perfectly.

Wanda added this complimentary purple Woolies flannel on the back that is thick and luxurious - totally worth the splurge!

Washboard Road

Wanda made this pretty quilt using some fabrics from the Unruly Nature collection by Jen Hewitt for Ruby Star Fabrics.  The pattern is called Washboard Road from Highway 10 Designs and is Fat Quarter, Fat Eighth or Jelly Roll friendly.

Wanda chose the Soho pantograph and I love the curves against the angles in the piecing.

Emerald Forest

Wendy made this great batik quilt for a wedding present. The pattern is called Emerald Forest from the book "Inspired by Bali" by Suzanne Mcneill.

Wendy selected the Terrace pantograph which seems to fit perfectly with the tropical colour palette and the print in the border fabric.

Wendy utilized a couple of complimentary pieces of Fireside on the back for some added interest.   Fireside always shows off the quilting design so well.

Modern Lines

Wendy made this interesting quilt with a modern edge.  It is mostly cotton with some linen in the form of the black fabric.

Wendy had a vision for how she wanted this one quilted and I was happy to oblige.  She requested vertical straight lines and we decided on an organic spacing that matched the slightly irregular lines on the black linen.

The Fireside backing with Quilter’s Dream Puff batting makes for a lofty quilt.

Pretty Posies

When Wendy pulled this quilt out of her bag my first thought was that it totally wasn't her style.  She loves batiks as much as I do so this was certainly a departure.  Wendy started this top in a class a number of years back decided it was high time that she finished it.

The Pretty Posies pantograph seemed to be a good fit and we added a little pizzazz with the thread selection.

We opted for Magnifico 2116 - Desert Flower from Superior.  It really added some fun.

Wendy added a mix of cotton and Fireside on the back.  It worked out okay, but it is definitely a little more stressful to keep the stitches consistent going from fireside to cotton in a single panto row.
