Smokey River Quilt

I had the privilege of quilting my Guild's raffle quilt this year.  The pattern is called Smokey River.  Many hands took part in the sewing of this quilt and I am pleased to say that it turned out flat and square and was a pleasure to work on (way to go ladies!)  The weather was not cooperating today, so I didn't get the best pictures.

I decided to quilt the body of the quilt with the "Come Dance With Me" panto.  The piecing and fabric in this section of the quilt are quite busy and it just needed some nice texture.

I want to make the borders special and gave them the custom treatment with curved cross hatching in the blue triangles, CCs in the nine patches, some curls int he narrow border and finely the curved echo border that I have been waiting to try since I got my boomerang rulers.  I am very please with the results, but wow am I slow when it comes to working with rulers!

The backing is a coordinating blue Stonehenge fabric.  I used So Fine Thread and Quilter's Dream Blend batting.

We will be making the draw for this quilt at our Quilt Show at the end of September   I have tickets for sale if you think it might look good at your house ;)!

  2. A lovely job, Lori. Love the curved cross hatching. I am going to try some curved hatching as soon as I get a boomerang ruler for marking. Hope to at least see this quilt personally. Save me a ticket.
