It's Good to Be Square

This is Val's rich batik "It's Good to Be Square" quilt.  Pattern is by A Quilter's Dream.

Val selected the Gingersnap pantograph and Quilter's Dream puff batting.

The backing piece that Val had on had was slightly bigger than the quilt top, but not the 8" larger that I require to load onto my longarm.  To solve this issue, Val added some scrap fabric leader and ender to the backing to give me the length I needed.  This fabric did not end up on the back of the quilt but allowed Val to use that "almost big enough" piece of backing.

Wonderful Woodland

Those mischievous raccoons are my favorite block in the Wonderful Woodlands quilt that Reneta sent for quilting.  The pattern is by Art East Quilting Company.   I just love all these Canadian animals.

Reneta requested all over woodgrain quilting and I was happy to oblige.  I find it to be a very relaxing pattern to quilt out, and I love the final result.  It adds an nice texture and density of quilting but doesn't take away from the animals.

I might just need to make on of these quilts for myself!

Amy's "Our Hearts Will Go On"

This is Amy's stunning version of the "Our Hearts Will Go On" quilt by The Fabric Addict.

Amy chose the London Fog pantograph and a wide Stonehenge backing from my selection  She left the thread selection up to me.  It is always a bit tricky to commit to a thread colour when the fabrics in the quilt go from very light to very dark.  I used a shiny Magnifico thread in a color called Horizon- 2146 that was a nice middle ground and looked nice across the quilt.

I know Amy is giving the quilt away to a special couple, I hope the love it as much as I do.

Minnesota Memories

This wonderfully detailed quilt was made by Megan.  The pattern is called "Minnesota Memories" by Helen Thorn of Pine Tree Lodge Designs.  Megan has amazing piecing and embroidery skills and all of the tiny details in the quilt came out perfectly!

All of the quilting was done in Superior Monopoly Invisible thread.  I think is was the right choice to reduce a lot of extra starts and stops and to let all of the wonderful fabric choices and piecing details be the star with the quilting in the background.  I'm just going to share lots of pictures as there is a lot to enjoy about this quilt!

I love the detail on the second mosquito!

The birch bark fabric behind the ticks was so perfect.

North Star

This striking quilt is a pattern called North Star from the Missouri Star Quilt Company.  I actually had the pleasure of piecing this quilt top for Leslie of Keystone Modern Creative with my dear friend and business partner Kathy at a retreat we attended in the shop.

The fabric is line is called "Almost Blue" by Libs Elliott who is a Canadian Designer for Andover Fabrics.

Leslie left the quilting design choice up to me.  I selected the Fascination pantograph and used a silvery Magnifico thread for some shine to match the metallics in all the prints.

As we all try to navigate this unique time in our lives, trying to do our part to slow the spread of Covid 19, Leslie of Keystone Modern Creative  in Winnipeg, Manitoba is offering free shipping on most everything on her website.  If you need something you don't see online, drop Leslie an email or message or call the shop and she will do her best to hook you up!
