Minnesota Stars

I recently had to opportunity to collaborate on a project with Jennifer from Needle Crafts and Studio.  Jennifer got in a great new line of fabric called Forest Jewels from Cloud 9 Fabrics and proposed using it to put together our Highway 10 Designs "Minnesota Stars" pattern.  

I was more than excited to use the palette that Jennifer selected. (I believe Jennifer has just a limited number of kits available in her shop.)

Here are a few close ups of the blocks.

I used a mustard colored thread for the quilting and the Flirtatious pantograph seemed to be the perfect compliment to the fabric prints.   

And just to remind you what the cover of the pattern looks like -   Colors choices can totally personlize a quilt!

Modern Minnesota Stars & A New Website

Our Highway 10 Designs Minnesota Stars pattern is now available in a paper version as well as a PDF download!  Kathy made new version using modern fabric for Up North Quilt Shop in International Falls and we loved it so much we decided to put it on the cover.

  The original version in Kansas Troubles prints is still a classic, but this quilt certainly lends itself to different interpretations.

Kathy at www.tamarackshack.blogspot.ca did the piecing and the quilting on this one.  She did let me offer my 2 cents here and there when sharing pictures via text as she was picking fabric and deciding on a quilting plan which was fun for me!  Here are some closeups of her awesome work.

Minnesota Stars & more!

I am excited to report that something new landed in the Highway 10 Designs Etsy shop!  Our pattern called "Minnesota Stars" is now available for purchase as a PDF download.  We originally designed this pattern for the Minnesota Shop Hop Northwest Region, but now we are pleased to make it available to everyone.

This pattern makes a nice sized lap quilt and can be a great stash buster.  (Many of the fabrics only require 1/2 yard or less of fabric!)

This pattern is much more traditional than most of our patterns, but sometimes we like to surprise you!
