Lug Nuts with a Bee Theme

This fabulous Lug Nuts quilt was made by Reneta.  This is the 4th version of the Highway 10 Designs pattern that Reneta has made.  She obviously enjoys putting these together!

Reneta was making this quilt for a specific person and bees were an important part of his family.  Reneta purchased a selection of Bee themed fabrics online, which is always a little scarier when they aren't all from one collection.  You need 9 - 1 yard cuts to create this quilt, so that certainly simplifies an online purchase.

The Windswept pantograph was the perfect choice for this quilt.  Reneta asked if I could add a little personalization (which I love to do), but to keep it subtle.  I quilted a nickname in amongst the curls of the panto.

Lug Nuts is definitely easier to put together than it appears at first glance.  It isa available in both paper and PDF downloadable option from Highways 10 Designs.

Camo Lug Nuts

Gay made this fabulous version of the Highway 10 Designs Lug Nuts quilt for her son.  I like to refer to this quilt as "elegant camo"  as Gay used a mix of batiks, cottons and some real tree camouflage prints to make a unique quilt.

Gay selected the Mimosa pantograph which seems to blend into the prints just perfectly.

My husband is always a good sport when I need a second pair of hands to get some quilt photos.  He was motivated to try out a camo shot and it was kind of fun. The behind the scenes shot makes me wonder if we have lost our minds!

Marlene's Lug Nuts

This is Marlene's version of our Highway 10 Designs Lug Nuts pattern.  This is the first quilt that Marlene has ever made!!!  Marlene took a class with me last year, and brought it to me for quilting this spring.  She did an outstanding job with her piecing and pressing.

We chose the "Breath of the gods" pantograph and a nice medium grey thread.  Grey and orange wouldn't be a color combination that normally pops in my mind, but I just love it!

Lug Nuts is one of those patterns where the final product looks far more complicated than it actually is to make. You might even be able to pull the require nine 1 yard cuts from your stash!  Paper and PDF patterns are available in the Highway 10 Designs Etsy store.

Marilyn's Lug Nuts

This is Marilyn's lovely version of the Highway 10 Designs Lug Nuts pattern.  The color palette she chose is soothing and would look great in so many rooms.

Marilyn selected the Fascination pantograph and Quilter's Dream Blend batting along with a lovely grey mix Stonehenge backing fabric.

Marilyn decided to change up the layout of her Lug Nuts quilt from what is included in the pattern.  The original Lug Nuts is almost square and the points fall on the sides of the quilt.  Marilyn wanted her quilt longer and narrower, as her daughter may use it as an accent along the bottom of her king size bed.

Lug Nuts Raffle Quilt

My good friend (and prolific client) Reneta and I joined forces to make this version of the the Highway 10 Designs Lug Nuts pattern.  We are donating the quilt to the senior band at our local high school (that both of our babies belong to) for a fundraising raffle.
Want a $2 ticket to win this beauty? - I can hook you up!

This quilt was truly a team effort.  Reneta provided the top fabric, and I the backing and batting.  I cut the strips, she sewed strips sets, I cut again, she made the  half hexagons, we laid it out together with the "help" of her cats and a glass of wine.  She finished the top, I quilted it.  I made and attached the bias binding, she hand stitched to the back.

We added the two spare hexagons to the back for a little fun.  It was quilted with the Fascination pantograph and a shiny charcoal grey Maginifico thread.

Lug Nuts is fun and easy to make - this was Reneta's third!  Check out #1 here and #2 here.  The pattern is available in the Highway 10 Designs Etsy shop or contact your favorite quilt store.  Wholesale inquiries welcome to highway10designs@mymts.net

Again, I can hook you up with tickets - draw date is January 26th, 2019!
