Pretty in Pink and Red

Susan made this pretty quilt for her 4 year old great niece.

She left picking the quilting pattern up to me and I thought the Fanciful Fliers pantograph and some soft pink thread would be a nice finishing touch.

Pinwheel Patch

This pretty little quilt was a team effort between three lovely ladies.  Michelle had a special quilt that she loved as a child that her grandmother had made for her.  She wanted her daughter to have something similar, but she herself is not (yet) a quilter.  She enlisted the help of her mother-in law Deann and Auntie-in-law Eileen who were more than willing to make this wish come true.

Michelle selected the Pinwheel Patch pattern and fabric was purchased from Needle Craft and Studio in Beausejour.  The three worked together to create the top and then I got invited to the party!

Michelle opted for the Fanciful Fliers pantograph and white thread.

I think it turned out super sweet.  Now I wonder if Michelle was bitten by the quilting bug??

Charming Butterflies

Cindy brought this cheerful quilt that she made for her granddaughter.  The pattern is called Charming Butterflies by Holly Daniels and was originally published in the August 2012 issue of Quilter's World magazine but is now available through e-patterns central.

When I suggested the Fanciful Fliers pantograph Cindy was in total agreement.  The pantograph looks fabulous on the teal Cuddletex backing that Cindy provided.  Cindy said she really didn't love the color, but it matched the top perfectly and her granddaughter loves the color which is most important.

Most of the quilts that come through my studio go home to the maker to finish the binding.  Occasionally I would get asked if I offered binding, and I never had the time or desire to add that to my services.  I have started working with another talented quilter who is happy to offer binding services if that would be something you are interested in.  Cindy took advantage of the option and her quilt was returned bound and ready to gift.

Sparrows

Shelly made this fun quilt for a special little girl in her life.  The pattern is called Sparrows by Pen and Paper patterns.

Shelly selected the Fanciful Fliers pantograph and I think it looks especially lovely on the solid purple flannel backing fabric.

Two For Margaret

Margret brought two lovely quilts  and first up is this Snowball quilt.  The lovely fabric is from the Bee Grateful collection by Deb Strain for Moda.  Margaret selected the Fanciful Fliers pantograph and asked me to leave the border cornerstones empty so she could add some embroidery.

And the backing is a great way to use up some leftover fabric for the top.

The second quilt is the Twilight Lake Quilt #2 which is a free pattern from Henry Glass Fabrics.

Margaret selected the Tickle pantograph for this one and we used an amazing chameleon thread - Sew Fine #489 "Lewis and Clark". It seemed to blend perfectly with all of the colors in the top.  This quilt looks cozy and perfect for Margaret's lakeside home.

Simple Hearts

This special quilt came through my studio recently.  It was made by a group of virtual quilting friends for one of their own who had experienced a loss.  They wanted to send their hugs from across the miles and worked together to create this special quilt.

The pattern is a freebie from Cluck Cluck Sew called Simple Hearts.  They each made a few hearts in the recipient's favorite colors and sent them on for assembly.

The Fanciful Fliers pantograph added a nice simple finish and went really went with the bee fabric that was part of the backing.

The pieced backing is really fun too.  It is always special for me to learn the back stories behind the quilts that I get to work on.  This was no exception.

Fanciful Fliers

Susan sent this lovely quilt and I immediately knew the pantograph that would add the perfect finishing touch.  The Fanciful Fliers pantograph has butterflies and loops and complemented the entire quilt but especially the border print.

It is April 12 and snowing here today so I’ll just enjoy these butterflies and think of false spring that was here when these photos were taken!
