Purple Log Cabin

This queen size Log Cabin quilt was made Ann.  I love the pretty purple highlight amid the blacks and whites.

This quilt was entirely paper pieced and I needed to give you a real sense of the scale of the pieces... There are 196 blocks in this quilt, and 19 pieces in each block - truly a labor of love!

This design made this quilt and the quilting really just needed to hold it all together.  Ann chose the Ebb Flow pantograph and a silvery grey Magnifico thread.  

Preppy Pod

This is Reneta's version of the Preppy Pod quilt by Elizabeth Hartman.  The pattern offers two sizes and Reneta opted for the larger size.

Reneta's daughter called dibs on the this quilt and she selected the Ebb and Flow pantograph - a perfect fit!

 

Cindy's "Brave Enough to Dream" Home Quarter

 

Cindy made this version of the Highway 10 Designs Home Quarter quilt pattern for her grandson's "big boy bed."  The fabric is from a beautiful line called "Brave Enough to Dream" by Dear Stella fabrics.  The pattern has some large pieces that really allow you to appreciate the fabulous prints.

Cindy selected the Ebb & Flow pantograph, and Quilter's Dream Puff batting that combines so nicely with her gorgeous navy fireside backing.

Catching Up!

I have been busy quilting, but have not kept up with posting so here goes!

Marilyn brought me this quilt that she made with all the leftovers from her Lug Nuts quilt that I recently quilted for her.  You can see the original here.  Super resourceful!  Marilyn chose the Ebb & Flow pantograph and a charcoal colored thread.

Eleanor sent me the autumnal colored Disappearing Nine Patch quilt.  I had the perfect Stonehenge wide back to compliment it.  I decided on the Mimosa pantograph.

Isabelle put together this cozy flannel top with a animal panel and some complimentary borders.  She decided on the Novaya Zhizn pantograph. 

Jamie brought this bright and bold top.  The border print is totally unique and she added a bold backing to continue the fun. 

I haven't used the Hall of Mirrors pantograph in awhile, but I love the calming modern touch it gave to the quilt.

Knowing that I offered basting as one of my services, Debbie asked if I would be able to help with her duvet project.  Debbie had been given some home grown wool batts from her uncle's specialty sheep.  She had made one duvet a number of years ago and tied it, but wasn't 100% pleased with the results as the wool did shift some as the wool was just carded and didn't have a scrim to stabilize it.  I was up for giving it a go!

I loaded the solid fabrics like I would for a regular quilt, and sandwiched the gorgeous wool in between. (Interestingly, the batts went by weight rather than size.)  I stitched horizontal channels every 4 inches with a hybrid stitch length - longer than my regular quilting stitch, but much shorter than my basting stitches as these were not to be removed.

We were both pleased with the final product.  Debbie was going to trim the batting and turn the backing to the front to finish the edges, and then sew some pretty covers to go over top.

Post Christmas Sharing

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.  I thoroughly enjoyed Christmas and New Year's away from the computer and spending time with the special people in my life.  Time now to catch up and share a few of the last quilts I completed before Christmas.

The first quilt was made by Nadine.  It is a Hopscotch pattern.

Nadine is a new quilter and it was fun for me to be a part of her finishing her first big quilt that she made for herself.   We decided on the Breath of he gods panto for some nice overall texture.

This beautiful red flannel backing will make for an extra cozy quilt.

This next quilt was made by Katie, another young quilter that I had the pleasure of working with.

  

We decided on the Fascination pantograph, and I love how crisp this one looked out in the snow.  Katie was giving this away to family for Christmas and I'm sure they were thrilled!

Unfortunately I didn't get the best photos of Gwen's quilt.  The batik fabrics and black accents were very rich. Gwen wanted the quilting to be quiet on this one, so we opted for the Ebb and Flow panto to just finish it off.

Two for Patrice

These two quilts were made by Patrice for a daughter and her boyfriend.

The first is a fun and bright one. 

Check out this wild backing!

Patrice chose the Popcorn panto, and left the thread choice up to me.  I used a bright orange Magnifico thread and love the result.

The second one is a little more subdued, but equally as nice.  

And a another great pieced back!

Patrice chose the Ebb & Flow panto, and I love the texture. My favorite blending green - So Fine 489 was the thread of choice.
