Chevron

This fun chevron quilt belongs to Donna.  She wanted the quilting the soften the hard lines of the quilt design.  We decided on the "Peacock" pantograph.  Some of the red and orange fabrics almost look like flames and the Peacock panto is a little flamey too, but with a bit a femininity mixed in.  I used Quilter's Dream Puff batting and a caramel colored So Fine thread that didn't fight with any of the fabrics.

The leopard backing is a fun surprise that just adds to the charm of this quilt.  I think the recipient will be very happy on Christmas morning.

Two Sweet Quilts

These two darling quilts were made by Cheri for two special little girls.  As always Cheri's work is beautiful and I had a lot of fun working on them.

The charm square quilt with applique was from the pattern on the Moda Bakeshop website called "Just Growing".  Cheri has chosen a very different color pallette and added a little to the original pattern and has given it a really nice proportion.

I did a freehand floral design on the majority of the quilt and stitched around the appliqued flowers.  We used Quilter's Dream puff batting so it is extra cuddly.

The second quilt is from a pattern called Field Greens by Madison Cottage Designs.  (You can tell that I took these pictures a little while ago as there is virtually no snow on the ground.)

We used the "Daisy Bounce" Pantograph which is the perfect scale for a little girl's quilt.

Radio Way

Cindy sent me this pair of cheerful lap quilts.  The pattern is "Radio Way" by Jaybird designs.  These are Cindy's first quilts and I think she did a fantastic job.

Both quilts have this nice modern grey backing fabric.  We decided to use Quilter's Dream Puff batting and two different pantos that were similar, but had their own character.

Cindy and I don't live close enough together to meet in person, so to give her almost the same experience she would have if she came to my studio I sent her photos with a variety of panto tracings placed on her quilt top so she could let me know what her likes and dislikes were.  I find these panto tracings take some of the guess work out of deciding if you like a panto or not.

Cindy chose "Tickle Too" for this one.

And "Gothic Vine" for the second.

I must add that these photos were taken a few days and the ground is much whiter around here now!

And the Winner is.....

Congratulations to Quilting Tangent on winning the great Batik Fat Quarter Bundle!

I had so much fun reading all your comments and learning where everyone is now and where you have been.  Some had never left the city they were born in and some have more times than I care to imagine (like 50 times!!!!).  I made some great "small world" connections, and learned more about some of you that I thought I knew pretty well!

Thank you to all who left comments.  I responded to everyone who left a comment that I could.  So many of you have your profile set to "no-reply"  and didn't leave an address in your comment.  (Many of you are on Google+ and think it is all well, but I couldn't find a way to contact you!)  If you did not receive and email from me you might want to check out this tutorial to get things straightened out before the next giveaway!

Fix your No-reply status here:

(Checking "show my email" does not make it visible in your comment, but rather allows it to be visible to the blog owner so that they can send you an email and answer a question or tell you that you have won some lovely fabric!)

Hope you enjoyed this year's edition of Blogathon Canada as much as I did.  Many thanks to Sew-Sisters for organizing such a great event!

Blogathon Canada - Manitoba Edition

Welcome to Friendly Manitoba!  I am so excited to be one of today's hosts for Blogathon Canada.  Heather over at Peace.Love.Quilt is the other host for today and she will be introducing you to some great bloggers from Saskatchewan so be sure to visit her as well.

My name is Lori and I currently call Dauphin, Manitoba - the City of Sunshine home.  I grew up in Winnipeg and since getting married I  have spent time out west in Strathmore, Alberta (just east of Calgary) and then way up north in High Level, Alberta,  then pretty far north Flin Flon, Manitoba before we landed here in Dauphin.

I wear a few different hats - mom to two lovely girls, wife to a dedicated Mountie, part time office administrator at our local funeral home, long arm quilter, pattern designer and I love it all!

Here at the Night Owl Quilting Blog you will most often see all the lovely quilts I work on for my clients like these. I do love this job!  (If you want to see more of any of these quilts just click on the picture and it will take you back to the original post.)

Sometimes you will see projects of my own like these:

This is also one place where you will see the patterns of Highway 10 Designs that my wonderful friend Kathy of Tamarack Shack  and I design together. All of these patterns are currently available at www.sewsisters.com or through our Etsy store.

Enough about me! Here are the other blogs from Manitoba that I hope you will take the time to visit:

Now it is time for the giveaways!  Be sure to head on over to the Sew-Sisters blog to enter today's giveaway sponsored by:

Lone Star Sampler

This Lone Star Sampler belongs to Donna.  She said the original pattern had 9 blocks (with out sashing or borders) and she decided that was going to be much to large for her needs.  She decided to revamp the layout, using only 4 blocks and added sashing and borders and came out with this lovely quilt.

We decided on the "Tickle" panto as the shapes were similar to her sashing fabric and it has a really nice overall texture.

Now, pour yourself a cup of coffee and head on over to check out the first day of Blogathon Canada.  The hop starts on the west coast and today's hosts are:

Ina's Disappearing Nine Patch #2

This is the sixth in Ina's series of quilts for her local care home - a very scrappy Disappearing Nine Patch.  I chose the "Dusty Miller" panto for this one and a nice medium blue So Fine thread.

Don't forget that Blogathon Canada starts tomorrow!  It is fun event with lots of prizes to be won and inspiration to be found!
