Happy Stripes

Donna made this cheerful quilt out of a collection Kaffe Fassett fabrics.  The pattern is called Happy Stripes from Quilty Love.

Donna selected a new to my collection pantograph called Divine.  We used an electric lime coloured Magnifico thread.  The sunny yellow Cuddletex backing fabric was the perfect finishing touch for a happy quilt that just makes you smile.

Mountainside

Reneta made this quilt for her daughter's wedding and I can finally share it now that the day has come.   The quilt pattern is called Mountainside by Lella Boutique and features the Smoke and Rust fabric collection.  McKenna and Cole had planned an intimate wedding in Jasper, Alberta so this quilt is extra fitting.  (Unfortunately due to the recent forest fires, they had to relocate their wedding, but it will still be taking place in the mountains.)

I have quilted many many quilts for Reneta and we have done everything for a simple meander to complex undertakings like adding the lyrics from a favorite song.  Reneta asked if I would quilt in the names and the wedding date and off I ran with a custom quilting plan.

I wanted to keep a modern feel to the quilt so I added a variety of straight line quilting along with a little stitch in the ditch to make the mountain peaks pop.

In the lines at the bottom of the quilt I added the personalization that is subtle but present.

Reneta added a cozy flannel backing that was covered in trees that really compliments the front.

Thank you for once again trusting me to have fun and add something a little different to your quilt Reneta.  Congratulations Cole and McKenna!

Cool Treats

Reneta made this totally adorable otter quilt.  The pattern is from Art East Quilt Company and is called Cool Treats.

It took a little while to come up with a quilting plan that we were both loving, and the end result was simple is best.  The wavy lines let the otters shine, so many designs we auditioned seemed to compete.

I just love these otters and their ice cream cones!

 

Skully

Becky made this quilt for her brother who loves all things skulls.  The pattern she used was originally part of the 2023 Spooky Season Sampler, but is also available as a stand alone block pattern from Corine Sovey.

When Becky and her daughter walked in with this quilt I must admit that I was a little bit stumped as to what pantograph would suit this top.  As we were browsing my collection, it was her daughter who confidently suggested the Ripples pantograph, and Becky and I immediately knew she hit the nail on the head.  It adds the right amount of texture and the perfect vibe for the top.

I don't have anyone in my life who would necessarily appreciate a skull themed quilt, so I am unlikely to make one, but I love the variety of quilts that come through my studio that I get to appreciate and enjoy for a little while!

 

Christmas Mischief

 

Leslie put together this fun quilt using a Robert Kaufmann fabric collection featuring the Grinch.  The pattern is available for free on the Robert Kaufmann website and is called Christmas Mischief.

Leslie selected the Quirky pantograph for a fun simple finish.  I love the pop of lime green bindings that was added by "Bindings by Marion."

Bird’s Hill

Leslie made this Queen sizes quilt for her granddaughter.  When asked what colour she liked her answer was pale purple.  Leslie chose the Bird's Hill pattern from the Blanket Statement and added a few pops of darker purple for some visual interest.  

Leslie chose the Tickle pantograph which adds really nice movement to the top.

A lovely lilac backing and completed binding from "Bindings by Marion" finish it off perfectly.

Horse Barn Quilt

Tanis put together this lovely Horse Barn quilt for her mom.  The pattern was designed by  Daine McGregor of Castilleja Cotton for the Sun Up to Sun Down Digital Panel by Hoffman Fabrics.

Tanis requested a light density pantograph, and after showing her some suggestions she decided that Windswept was the choice.

The coazy fireside backing always shows off the quilting and makes for such a warm quilt.
