Good Vibrations!

GV Cover pic
I am really excited to introduce the new pattern from Highway 10 Designs called Good Vibrations.  The pattern utilizes 5” x width of fabric strips that can come from your stash or be purchased as precuts.  We used Cantik Batik Gem Fives. The large quilt uses two bundles and is featured on the cover in the Nunavut colorway.  The smaller version uses one bundle and you can see it below in the Great Lakes colorway.

While we were developing the pattern Kathy made a sample from her batik stash and you can see it over at Tamarack Shack

Kathy and I design our patterns across the miles between Flin Flon and Dauphin, but we were lucky to meet in “the middle” at Fabriculous in Swan River this summer and we got to test the pattern and sew the cover quilt together.  I took it home to quilt it, and Kathy took it back to bind and photograph it.  It was really a fun joint effort.

Good Vibrations really didn’t call for any elaborate quilting. The Ebb and Flow pantograph was run vertically instead of horizontally like it normally is.  It had a very pleasing feel in that orientation.  I had one remaining piece of this Stonehenge backing fabric that was the perfect compliment to the front of the quilt.

Kathy used the Bora Bora pantograph on the smaller quilt and it gives a different feel that compliments the colors well.

Good Vibrations is available in paper or pdf format from our Highway 10 Designs Etsy store or ask your local quilt store owner to bring it in for you!

City Slicker

This version of City Slicker was made by Reneta just in time for our local guild quilt show.  I pulled it off my machine just a few days before the show and she was able to getting the binding done in a flash.

Reneta knew she wanted the quilting to have a geometric feel so we decided on the Gatsby pantograph. A brassy gold thread was a nice compliment to all the fabrics.

Reneta found this collection of fabrics on a recent trip to New York City.  She picked up this package of New York themed fabric from The City Quilter.  Reneta thought the Highway 10 Designs pattern City Slicker was the perfect compliment and I couldn't agree more.  The yellow Grunge fabric by Moda was a really nice addition.

While at the store Reneta also found some fabric postcards and decided to scatter them on the backing as another memory of her trip.

Are here is a shot of it bound and at our local show.
