This pretty Chandelier quilt was made by Marion. Marion used to do custom quilting for clients on her domestic sewing machine, but she no longer does because of the wear and tear on the body. Marion had a real vision for how she wanted this quilted, and it was fun collaborating, doing things a little out of the norm and bringing her vision to life.
Marion's request was for me to quilt the body of the quilt and to leave the borders for her to do on her domestic machine. Not the typical request, but totally doable if we came up with the right plan for the centre. Marion had a vision of a vertical design that enhanced the flow of the piecing. Marion also requested that l leave the thread tails for her to knot and bury.
When I sent a doodle of the above freehand design, Marion was fully on board. I loaded the quilt sideways on my machine. I started with a couple on stitches on the border fabric, that Marion would pick out to where she wanted to knot it, and did continuous lines to the other border.
Marion then added the cable designs in the border using her domestic sewing machine.
The quilt is now bound and washed to bring out the crinkly goodness and is ready to be given to someone special.
