Boston Bruins Pedal to the Metal

Reneta made this spirited version of Highway 10 Designs Pedal to the Metal quilt  as a grad gift for a big Boston Bruins fan.  This pattern is the perfect quilt to highlight team or school colors for the super fan in your life!

Reneta chose the Plush pantograph and I use a light gold thread for the quilting.

Reneta made the twin size quilt (shown on a double bed), the pattern includes three different pattern variations and sizes for Twin, Double, Queen and King sized beds.

Cabin Fever

Joanne made this cozy throw quilt from a pattern called Cabin Fever.  Joanne told me she is a pretty new quilter, and I think she did a great job and has caught the bug!

Joanne selected the Maple Syrup pantograph I used a  dark brown thread that didn't distract from the different checks and prints included in the top.

Charming Additions

Val made this lovely quilt entirely from her stash.  She has been on a stash busting roll lately as you can see by her other recent finish.  The pattern is called Charming Additions and was published in the December 2012 edition of American Patchwork and Qulting Magazine.

Val selected the Lilac pantograph which is fast becoming a customer favorite around here.  She also selected a grey Stonehenge wide back from my collection, so I decided to use a grey thread for the quilting.  I probably could have selected just about any colour, as I think they are all included in the quilt somewhere!

Val said this quilt is for her, and I'm sure it will have lots of happy memories of all the quilts that came before to provide this diversity of scraps.

Fancy Forest

I think this is the 4th Fancy Forest quilt that I have quilted for Reneta.  This one is extra special though.   It has lovingly been made for Reneta's first grandchild set to arrive any day.  Reneta dug into her Ombre Confetti fabric that she had been saving for just the right occasion.

Reneta always requests my freehand woodgrain quilting for this pattern, and I never get tired of the finished look.  I love all these cute animals, and check out the minky added to the bunny ears!

Amy's Habs Slabs

Go Habs Go!  Amy sent this fun slab block quilt that she made for some Montreal Canadiens fans in her life.  Isn't it amazing what a pile of "scraps" can become?

This quilt weighs in at a whopping 74" x 110" and I think Amy may have invented a new quilt size - the family couch cuddler!  I can see the whole family cuddled up on the couch to cheer on their favorite team with enough quilt for everyone!

I suggested my freehand all over topographic quilting to add a nice even texture.   Doing a freehand design, allowed me to work in sections and match my thread color to each of the color bands of the quilt.

Fun quilt Amy! Thanks for letting me play.

Fading Charms

Reneta has been scrap busting again.  She made this pair of Fading Charm Quilts with the tutorial from Wedding Dress Blue.  We decided to quilt them with two different pantographs that had a similar feel.

The one with the grey background received an oldie but a goodie - the Popcorn pantograph.

The blue background received a pantograph that I haven't used all that much yet called Balcony.

Vanda's Plan B Quilt

Vanda came up with the quilt layout not by choice but out of necessity.  These fabrics were purchased as a kit a few years back to make one of the Maple Island BQ quilts, but there wasn't enough fabric in the kit to keep the directional black and white fabric all going in the same direction.  Vanda knew that would bother her, so time for plan B.

It took us awhile to settle on a pantograph.  I was surprised how much we both liked the Lilac pantograph.  The flowers on flowers seemed to play nice and not add more busy to a quilt with strong fabric patterns.

Vanda pieced all her leftover fabrics into a lovely backing.

Lucky Log Cabin

Reneta made this cheerful Lucky Log Cabin quilt.  The pattern is from Quilty Love.  Reneta had been saving her V & Co Confetti Ombre jelly roll for just the right project.  When I saw the quilt top, I knew what I wanted to quilt on it.  I sent Reneta one option and she agreed - the Flirtatious pantograph.

This fabric always makes me think of a celebration with the metallic confetti, so adding the Flirtatious pantograph in Shiny gold Magnifico thread (2063 Clover Honey) just adds to the party in my eyes.

Reneta has a piece of Tula Pink backing in her stash that was just the right size and completes the quilt very nicely.

Onesies Funsies

I had the pleasure of quilting this fun little quilt for pattern tester Reneta.  The pattern is called "Onesies Funsies" and it is a new release from Art East Quilting Co.

Reneta and my daughter Kendra selected the Soho pantograph, and I think it is a sweet finish for all the cute animals.  I think I'm partial to the bunny - how about you?
