Two for Colleen

Colleen brought over two lovely lap quilts.  The first is this bright and cheery sampler with the sweetest little 6" blocks.  Colleen had a vision for the quilting  - she new she wanted something soft and curved that was dense enough to match the scale of the quilt.  A new pantograph in my collection called Dragon's Breath was the perfect fit.

The second quilt was this lovely broken herringbone.  Colleen selected the Dazzle pantograph to finish this one off.

Colleen added a cool block/label to the back of the quilt which is pretty and functional.

Not Your Mother's Rail Fence - Curling edition

Denise made this lap sized version of the Highway 10 Designs "Not Your Mother's Rail Fence" pattern.  Her selection of curling and maple leaf fabrics are perfect for the season of curling up on the couch to watch all the games on TV!  Denise selected the Maple Syrup pantograph to continue the theme.

Not Your Mother's Rail Fence is a beginner friendly pattern as comes together quickly with no stress.  Pattern is available in paper and PDF format on the Highway 10 Designs website.

Washboard Road

Barb made the absolutely stunning version of the Highway 10 Designs Washboard Road pattern.  I love the colors of this quilt! Barb used a a jelly roll of Sunshine Soul by the Create Joy Project for Moda and the background is a lovely Chalk and Charcoal from Robert Kaufman in the Midnight color.

Barb chose the Gingersnap pantograph for the quilting.  I was having a great tension day and I was able to match a fuchsia thread to the backing and a dark teal thread on the front.  (Love my Innova longarm!)

And check out the fabulous pieced backing Barb made.  She used all the leftover bits from the jelly roll strips and some of the background fabric to create this interesting band for the back of the quilt.

Beautiful quilt Barb, someone was very happy finding this under the Christmas tree!

Mountainside

Denise made a pair of Mountainside quilts using the lovely "Smoke and Rust" fabric collection from Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics.  This fabric seemed to be everywhere this summer but these are the first quilts i have seen completed using the line.

Denise selected the Bauhaus Baby Pantograph for the first quilt that she added a cream colured backing to.

The second quilt received the Hall of Mirrors pantograph, and the backing was a lovely orange fabric.

3 Batik Beauties

Batik quilts don't seem to come into my studio very often these days, so as a Batik lover deep at heart I was thrilled when Wendy brought these three batik beauties by.  First up is the fun Jelly Roll Race quilt in a beautiful color palette.

When chose the Gingersnap pantograph and we used a turquoise thread on the top and on the back.  I love how the quilting shows up on the fireside backing.

Next up is the gorgeous "Emerald Forest" quilt that comes from the book "Inspired by Bali"  in a palette of  brown batiks with more fireside on the back!  The Windswept pantograph was a nice finishing touch.

Have you ever made an orange quilt?  How about an orange Batik quilt? I'm sure most quilters would answer "no" to those questions.  Adding some shiny orange Magnifico thread and the Time Warp pantograph was a lot of fun on this one!  The pattern is called Mosaic by Aardvark Quilts.

Wendy and I had fun coming up with a little extra something that unfortunately is not coming across in the photos.  One pantograph row was quilted in shiny light grey thread to add some unexpected interest.  Hopefully the recipients enjoy the little detail.

Flannel Star

Wendy made the super cozy flannel quilt by raiding her stash.  There are some lovely woodsy prints that she collected over time that will be extra perfect for the recipients.  The piecing of this quilt is fairly simple with squares and HST but the impact is huge!

This quilt is a very generous size as you can see by how it covers my queen sized bed.  Wendy selected the Mimosa pantograph and I love the movement it add to the squares.  Wendy splurged on some Woolies flannel by Maywood Studio for the backing and it is thick and cozy, and heavy!
