R2D2 Quilt

Reneta has been busy sewing squares together yet again!  This time is was this fabulous R2D2 quilt made following the free tutorial on the Bored Zombie Blog here.

Reneta left the quilting design up to me, we knew that this one was calling for light custom rather than an all over design.

I tried to pick a different but complementary design to use in each of the main colors.  Continuous curves in the blue, "Terry twists" in the grey, vertical u-turns in the blacks and larger horizontal u-turns in the white.

Swirls in the border and a swirly background filler finished it all off.  I decided to stitch in the ditch around the black border and leave it unquilted.

I am sure the lucky recipient (and his parents) will be thrilled with this one!

Double Slice

Donna brought me this lovely "Double Slice" layer cake quilt.  It is a nice way to use one of those layer cakes that you purchased and weren't quite sure what to do with once you got home.  You can find the tutorial here.

We took inspiration from the fabric prints and used one of my favorite pantographs - "Come Dance With Me".  It shows up beautifully on the Northcott Stonehenge backing fabric that I had on hand.
