Calder

Inez brought this great quilt for some simple quilting.  I love the diagonal movement that it has.
When I took a look at the fabric prints there was one pantograph that immediately came to mind.  Inez agreed that Calder was the prefect choice and I was off to the races with this one.

White thread to match the top and a light green thread to match the backing.

Batik Stars

Lisa made this striking star quilt entirely out of batik fabrics.  Lisa wondered if we should do custom quilting to make sure the stars pop, but I kind of talked her out of that option, because I thought her fabric choices and placement allowed the stars to stand out with no help from me.

Instead we opted for a simple pantograph  - Ebb and Flow that kept the quilt nice and cozy for a bed quilt.

Hopscotch

Lisa brought this wonderful quilt.  The pattern is called Hopscotch by Bonnie Sullivan of All Through the Night Quilt patterns.  Lisa used a wide variety of blender fabrics from the Northcott Canvas line that she said she ordered online during the height of Covid restrictions that made in person shopping impossible.

Lisa selected the Quirky pantograph and we settled on a murky green thread that blended well with the wide variety of colours.

I just love the fun backing that Lisa found that coordinates with the top perfectly.

Scrappy Nine Patch

Marion brought this wonderfully scrappy quilt.  She inherited a box of 2" squares from her aunt and wanted to put them to use, even though most of the fabrics weren't necessarily her taste.

Marion selected the the Soho pantograph, and I think the scale suits the quilt really well.  No square was left without getting some quilting through it.

Marion added a classic white on white backing fabric to add a bit of calm.  This quilt grew on Marion while she was making it and instead of it being given away, it is going to find a home in her spare room.

Sugar Bear

Phyl made this pretty quilt and requested custom quilting.  The pattern is called Sugar Bear and was a sew-along with Southern Charm Quilts.  All of the bright fabrics are Tula Pink prints.

The centre of each block is pieced slightly differently so those sections are quilted to match the piecing, and the remainder of the block has a consistent design for all the blocks.

I added curls in all the vertical and horizontal sashing sections.

Of the border suggestions I made, Phyl liked the Echo Curve border best, and I was thrilled as it was my favorite too.

Phyl provided a solid light blue backing fabric that shows off all the quilting really well.

Lone Star

Wow it has been a month since I sat down at the computer to share any of the quilts that have been through my studio - time to remedy that!
Dorothy made this lovely Lone Star quilt with a beautiful selection of batik fabrics.  Dorothy left the quilting design up to me and I decided on freehand "3's and E's"

Dorothy opted for one of the wide backs that I keep on hand - this being a very pretty blue Stonehenge.

I know Dorothy was planning on giving this quilt to a friend who was retiring, and I'm sure she will be just thrilled with this beautiful quilt.
