I have always loved batik fabrics. I had originally used these fabrics when making the cover quilt for the Highway 10 Designs "Not Your Mother's Rail Fence" pattern. See it here. I had some good sized pieces remaining. I had just the right amounts of these these fabrics to put together this Pedal to the Metal quilt - another Highway 10 Designs pattern.
This pattern utilizes strip piecing and there are no points to match so it really comes together quickly and is a relaxing sew. I chose the Cinnamon Swirl pantograph which shows up wonderfully on the purple Cuddletex backing.
I didn't have enough of a single fabric to make the binding so I used two different fabrics in about 20" segments to finish this one off.
I donated this quilt to the Quilts for Wildfire Relief effort that is planning to gift a quilt to each of the 235 households that lost a home in the fire in Denare Beach Saskatchewan in 2025.
