Log Cabin

Marlene decided it was time to make a cozy quilt for herself and try to work through some scraps at the same time.  She went with a classic Log Cabin pattern with a lovely little cream and red nine patch in the centre of each square.

Marlen selected the Come Dance with Me pantograph and a blending brown thread for the quilting.

 

Foxes and Bunnies in Bed

Reneta is a new grandma to twins and she had to make them each a special quilt.  The quilts are part of of a three in one pattern from Sew Fresh Quilts called "Bears, Foxes and Bunnies in Bed."  Reneta and I don't often get to shop together in person since we no longer live in the same area, but when she was visiting me, we went to see Jennifer at Needle Craft and Studio in Beausejour to pick fabric for these quilts.

Reneta immediately fell in love with the rainbow print and Jennifer helped Reneta pull complimentary fabrics for the bunnies.

I had fun doing a little custom quilting.  I outlined the features on the bunny faces and added a daisy meander to the background.

For the quilting on the blanket part, I followed the shapes of the rainbows freehand.

Could this be any cuter?

I tried to keep the quilting on the fox quilt similar but different.  I added a basic meander behind the fox faces.

The foxes needed a little more quilting that just the outlining so I added a couple of strategically placed curved lines.

I added quilting in the blanket part to every gold line of the print.  

Two for Patrice

Patrice made this quilt for her nephew.  The low contrast  blue color palette makes for a lovely neutral quilt.

Patrice selected the Galaxy pantograph which added a lovely amount of texture.

Patrice selected a navy Stonehenge from my collection of wide backs to continue the theme on the back.

This second quilt will be a donation to one of Patrice's favorite charities.  The blocks might look familiar as a placemat pattern.  Patrice revamped this project part way through and made a lovely quilt instead of a set of placemats. 

Patrice chose the Terrace pantograph and a lovely beige Stonehenge wide back from my backing fabric collection.

Knitted for Ewe

This darling pattern is one of the new releases from Art East Quilt Company and is called Knitted for Ewe.  It was made by Reneta as she once again acted as one of the pattern testers.

Reneta went for an '80's vibe with her color palette.  I love the minty green background fabric and the funs colours she pulled for the sweater from the print.

I immediately had the idea of the popcorn pantograph and Reneta was totally onboard.  I love how the grey thread looked likes wool on the black sheep.

This quilt made me smile for the whole time that is was in my studio.  Do I need to make one for myself?

 

Beautifully Done

This beautiful quilt was made by Madeline.  The blocks are from the "Beautifully Done" pattern by Fresh Dew Drops but Madeline put her own spin on the layout.

Madeline selected the Ebb and Flow pantograph which adds some nice soft curves to all the straight lines of the piecing.

 

Aperiodic

This beauty is a new pattern from Prairie and Ocean that is being released tomorrow.  This quilt was made my Marlene who is mom and alpha pattern tester to Janice.  

Janice is a scientist by profession and her quilts are definitely born in her scientific brain.  This pattern is called Aperiodic and is based on the Ammann-Beenker tiling. (Look it up on Wikipedia if you are interested to learn more.)

I love the rich colour palette Marlene chose and the print inspired the pantograph choice of Lilac.  I thought at first the flowers might be too big, but I love how they look on the final quilt.

This pattern may look complex, but Janice has broken it down in manageable pieces with all the clear instructions you need. The pattern offers two colourways in three sizes.

Scrappy Cats

 Reneta found an image of this single block on Pinterest and worked out her plan to make this wonderful quilt using her favorite scrap busting 2" squares.

Reneta suggested the Gingersnap pantograph as she thought the shapes reminded her of balls of yarn.  Gingersnap seems to look great on so many quilts and this is no exception.

I used a soft purple thread to add a little interest to the quilting and play on the yarn theme.
