Pedal to the Metal - King Size!

This quilt was made by daughter Kyla as a gift for her Mother-in-law and Father-in-law.  Kyla knew she wanted to use one of our Highway 10 Designs patterns and after going fabric shopping decided to go the Pedal to the Metal.

This quilt is a generous King Size coming in at 110" x 110"   The fabrics are some Northcott favorites - a Stonehenge mixer and a Canvas to match.

Kyla selected the Tickle pantograph which adds some softness and movement.

Amd more Stonehenge one the back.

Pedal to the Metal uses the magic of strip piecing to make a very large quilt an enjoyable and manageable experience even with a toddler at home and returning to work full time!

Sandy Claws

I can finally share this one!  Becky made this quilt as a surprise Christmas gift for her husband.  I was quite surprised that she was able to pull it off as he is more aware/invested in her quilting projects than the average partner.  The pattern is called Sandy Claws from Art East Quilting Co.

To make this quilt extra special she added the Nova Scotia tartan as the backing fabric.  Becky was able to pick that up on a trip back home this summer.

Becky chose the Bora Boara pantograph  and some white thread for a simple but effective finish.

Lori's Christmas I Spy

Lori amassed an amazing collection of novelty Christmas fabrics to put this quilt together.  It has an "I Spy" feel to it.

The gift bow fabric was one of my favorites!  I added the Gingersnap pantograph in a shiny grey thread to give it a silver feel without using anything metallic.

So many fun fabrics to enjoy!

Denim and Corduroy and Upholstery - Oh My!

This quilt contains no quilting cotton on the front!  Karen used a mix of denim and corduroy and upholstery fabric instead.  When Karen asked if this would be suitable for me to longarm I said my Innova was definitely up for the task.

I found it interesting how Karen included some of the side seams in the squares.

Karen selected the Starry pantograph and Quilter's Dream Puff batting to keep things nice and light.

Eileen's Color Value Mystery

Eileen made this quilt as part of the Canuck Quilter's 2025 Color Value Mystery quilt along.  The pattern is now available for purchase under the name Evening Light.

Eileen pulled all of the fabrics from her stash  (even the backing) and hoped for the best as you always have to do with a mystery quilt.  I think it all came together really well.

Eileen chose the Gingersanp pantograph.  The circles in the pantograph echo the circles in a few of her fabric prints and tie things together very nicely.

2 for Val

Val brought two quilts that were both mystery quilt alongs done with Melissa Marginet during covid times.  Both quilts are now available as stand alone patterns at www.melissamarginet.ca

First up is Daisy Chain.  I love the lime green in Val's color palette.  Val chose the Fascination pantograph which adds some nice movement to the quilt top.

Val used the a few fabrics to pull together a coordinated quilt back making good use of the fabrics she had on hand.

The second quilt is called Linked.

Val chose the Flirtatious pantograph.  It reminds me of the flight path of all the dragonflies on her focal fabric.

And another resourceful quilt backing.  I love that it is planned yet scrappy.

Cat in the Hat

Tannis made this cheerful Dr. Suess quilt.  The free pattern was designed to be used with the Cat in the Hat fabric line from Robert Kaufman.

Tannis chose the Twister pantograph and I think is a very fun choice.  The bold red backing is a perfect fit.

I really love the border fabric on this one!

Kaleidoscope Stripes and Plaids

Deb made this fun quilt using the plaids and strips from the Allison Glass Kaleidoscope collection.    You will notice from the lack of snow on the ground in these photos that I haven't posted in a while and it is time to catch up.  It is a full winter wonderland here now!

Deb chose the Dazzle pantograph and as always it shows up so well on the Fireside backing.

Crossweave

Deb made this lovely quilt for a co-worker who is retiring.  The pattern is called Crossweave from Diary of a Quilter - Amy Smart.  The fabric collection is called Nutmeg by Basic Grey for Moda.

Deb chose the Calder pantograph.  She added a beautiful navy flannel from Northcott to amp up the coziness.
