Two for Tina

Tina brought two fun quilts.  The first is the wolf quilt featuring fabrics from the Wild at Heart line from Northcott fabrics.  The pattern is called Family Album and was designed the The Sweet Tea Girls and is designed for 24" wide panels.

Tina selected the Breath of the gods pantograph for a simple finish that does not take away from the graphic on the panel.  It was bound by Marion and ready to be used and loved.

The second quilt is perfect for the chocolate lover.  Tina chose the Cinnamon Swirl pantograph which looks fabulous on the cuddle backing.

We found the perfect thread that is a bit hard to describe - purpley brown?  It is Superior's So Fine #527 Piazza Plum.   I love having access to my huge thread collection for times like this!

Once again bound by Marion and ready to be loved.

Reneta's Nautical Sampler

This wonderful quilt belongs to Reneta.  The blocks are from the Nautical collection by Sandra Healy Designs.  Reneta and some friends participated in a Queen Bee swap.  They take turns picking and making blocks for each other.

Everyone added some really cool fabrics to their blocks.  Reneta pieced it all together and grounded the whole thing with some lovely navy sashing.  Then it was my turn.  Reneta chose the London Fog pantograph.

Reneta added a cozy black Stonehenge flannel for the backing.

Fancy Forest x 2

I believe these are the 7th and 8th Fancy Forest quilts that I have quilted for Reneta.  She really doesn't tire of making this pattern!  Each one is unique based on the the background Reneta chooses and the fabrics she pulls from her stash to make the animals.

The request to me is always the same - woodgrain quilting.  I am always happy to oblige as it is really one of my favorite patterns to freehand quilt and I think it looks great on these quilts.

  I love the fuzzy ears Reneta added to the bunnies with some leftover Cuddle fabric!

Don't Put Baby In the Corner

Madeline made this super cozy quilt out of a collection of Mammoth Flannels.  The pattern is called Don't Put Baby in the Corner by Fabriculous.

Madeline chose the Dazzle pantograph and added a nice charcoal Stonehnege flannel on the back.  We added the black Quilters Dream Midnight poly batting to help keep any lint down to a minimum.

 

Eileen's Pinwheels

This lovely batik Pinwheel quilt was made by Eileen.  As she was working on it, her sister Deann mentioned how much she liked it.  Eileen decided that this quilt would make the perfect gift for Deann and Jeff's 40th wedding anniversay, and she contacted me to get it quilted.

I have gotten to know Deann over the last few years as she herself has also started quilting, and I am getting a sense of her style which is quite different than her sister Eileen’s.  Eileen is firmly in my "no feathers" group of clients.  The quilt was telling me it would look great with a few feathers, and since it wasn't going to live at Eileen's house but rather Deann's.... I sent over some doodles that included feathers becuase I thought Deann would like them.  Eileen agreed with my suggestion and away I went.

I kept the quilting quite simple.  I didn't do any stitiching in the ditch.  I was able to use a single colour of thread and found a good path that allowed me to travel across the quilt without breaking thread.  I settled in and had a lot of fun quilting the feathers, curls, loops and curves with no rulers or marking involved.

The navy Stonehenge backing was a bit tricky to photograph but a cool pattern emerged on the back.

Plaid Porch

Deann made this pretty quilt using the Plaid Porch Quilt pattern from Tilda's World.  She used a lot of fabrics from the Hometown line in the Plum and Green colourway with a few extras mixed in.  Deann deicded to create some pillow shams to coordinate with the quilt.

Denne chose the Tickle Too pantograph and adds nice movement to the quilt top.  And more Tilda fabric on the back for a fully coordinated look.
