King Size Quarter Sections

This fabulously rich quilt was made by Bonnie.  The pattern is our Highway 10 Designs Quarter Sections pattern.  Bonnie made the King size version with some additional borders and it came out to 102" x 126" - Bonnie has a few days of binding in her future, but it will be so worth it! You can see it on my Queen size bed below.

Bonnie fabric selection was mostly Orientals with a metallic highlight with a mix of batiks and cottons mixed in.  Bonnie selected the "Paisley" pantograph and I used my favorite Magnifico gold thread - 2063 Clover Honey.  It is a pretty gold thread that isn't too brassy.

Bonnie choose and brown Stonehenge wide back and we used the extra wide Quilter's Dream Blend batting.

Quarter Sections is a fat quarter friendly pattern with 6 sizes ranging from Baby to King.  You can find it on our website as a PDF download and in printed form.

Cindy's "Not Your Mother's Rail Fence" - 2.0

The stunning version of our Highway 10 Designs "Not You Mother's Rail Fence" pattern was made by Cindy.  The mix of rich and bright batiks really is breathtaking.

Cindy chose the paisley panto, Quilter's Dream Blend batting, and a shiny turquoise Magnifico thread.

Cindy also used some of my wide Stonehenge backing fabric.  It is a navy and brown combination that really adds to the richness of the quilt.

So tricky to get pictures in the wind!  Cindy, I loved your version of this pattern.  I can always tell when I've got a special one and all my family members stop to comment on it.  When you can stop a teenage girl in midstory to comment "wow, nice quilt" you know you did something special!   I really enjoyed having it in my house for awhile.

I am also excited to show my second completed row in the mystery leaf row quilt I am participating in.  This time the leaves were fused on and I did a machine blanket stitch around them.  

Here are rows one and two together.  I am loving this one.  I can't wait for next week to see what's next!

Introducing... Alternate Routes by Highway 10 Designs

I am SO EXCITED to finally share the latest adventure that my dear friend Kathy & I are taking together...

Kathy & I have self published a pattern called Alternate Routes that is now available as an instant PDF download in our Etsy Shop.  Kathy's version is featured on the pattern cover that you see here.

And here is my version.

The cool thing about this pattern is that it has seemingly endless layout possibilities.  We have included 20 examples in the pattern itself, but we know there are oodles more once you start playing around with the blocks.

  Kathy and I have worked on many things together in the past, but this is our first truly original design.  It was conceived as a project to use in our respective Quilt Guilds, which we did, but we knew we needed to take the next step as we felt we had something worth sharing.  We are very proud of our first-born pattern,  and (now that the leaning curve has gotten smaller) we are looking forward the next one.

I took hundreds of pictures so I am going to share a few more....  I used the Paisley panto on this quilt with a lavender thread on top and a charcoal to match the backing fabric which I just love.
