Just Add Shortcake

 

Shelly made this fantastic strawberry quilt.  The pattern is called Just add Shortcake by Wendy Shepherd.

The prints in the collection make me think of some fun vintage sheets.  The Lithe pantograph doesn't seem to get used all that often around here, but was a lovely compliment to this quilt.

It is always a nice surprise when you get to see the quilting on a solid backing.

Butter Tarts in Olive You

This wonderful quilt was made as a store sample by Megan for Keystone Modern Creative.  The pattern is the last release from Highway 10 Designs and is called Butter Tarts.  This is a great Fat Quarter friendly pattern that goes together with no HSTs!

The fabric collection used in this quilt is called Olive You by Zen Chic for Moda.  Kits are still available from Keystone Modern Creative.

Megan chose the Terrace Pantograph and I think it looks amazing on the rich green cuddle backing.

Westhawk Quilt and a Variation

 

Karen was commissioned to make a quilt to be given as a wedding gift next summer.  When a second granddaughter got engaged, Karen was asked to make a second quilt.  Two quilts that were similar but unique was the order of the day.

First up Karen made the "Bed Size" version of the Westhawk quilt by the Blanket Statement.  It generously covers my Queen size mattress at 92" x 102"

Karen chose the Obsidian pantograph for this one and it adds a great amount of texture to the large pieces of solid fabric. The backing is a wonderful blue Stonehenge Gradations wide back from Northcott.

For the second quilt, Karen used the West Hawk quilt as inspiration and used the same palette of fabric to put together this variation that is the same finished size.

This one got the Tickle Too pantograph and the blue-green version of the same backing.

More Catching Up!

 Ready to see some more wonderful quilts now that I have resurfaced after my summer break?

First up in this fantastic Pineapple quilt made by Anne.  The bright batiks were a great choice for this quilt.

Anne and her niece chose the Terrace pantograph.  The beautiful turquoise backing was the perfect compliment to the front.

Monica made this King size quilt - it is hard to get a sense of the size from a photo but it was 110' x 110"  There are so many interesting fabrics that you get to appreciate in the simple layout.  The Calder pantograph added just the right amount of quilting.

Monica opted to have her quilt bound by my associate Marion  so it was ready to enjoy on her bed when it arrived home.

I'm not sure how many of the Grinch quilts that Becky has made to date - at least 4?  Her friends and colleagues keep wanting one for themselves and she keeps finding more panels to make it happen.  Becky loves the Snow Winds pantograph to finish these and I am happy to oblige!

Val made this t-shirt quilt for a family friend.  She did a great job of making all the different sized logos work into a unified and organized piece.

The Raindrops pantograph added a simple quilting pattern that allowed the t-shirts to remain the star of the show.

Patrice made two quilts with fabrics from the Imperial Garden collection from a few years back.  We used the Clamflower pantograph and a shiny grey thread that read very similar to metallic silver in the fabrics.

Patrice didn't let any of the fabric go to waste and pieced a back for one of the quilts.

Last but not least is this Homestead Star pattern made by Megan.  The kit is still available from Keystone Modern Creative when I checked earlier today.  Megan asked for turquoise thread and selected the Sweet Pea pantograph.  I really like the print on the backing fabric.

Catch up Post #1

So... it appears that I haven't shared any quilts since April!  I have in fact been quilting, but spent a lot of time enjoying my summer as well.  So time to share some of the wonderful things that have travelled through my studio in the last 5 months.

First up is the lovely BQ4 quilt that Marion brought.  Her niece fell in love with the black print and had Marion make it into a quilt for her.  The BQ patterns from Maple Island quilts are a great way to show off a larger scale print.

We used the Dragon's Breath pantograph which complimented come of the motifs in the focus print.

Elaine made this sweet Layer Cake Links quilt.  The free pattern is available here from the Fat Quarter shop.   She selected the Pieces of My Heart pantograph for a lovely finish.

Jukipa brought this pretty quilt made from a collection of Tilda fabrics.  

She selected the Feathered Garden pantograph  which was very fitting and looked pretty on the plain bakcing.

Jukipa also brought this cheerful jelly roll quilt and chose the Feather Unfurled pantograph for a sweet finish

Mary brought this rich quilt made from a collection of blue William Morris Fabrics.  I struggles to get good pictures of this one, but the wildflower pantograph was lovely addition with a green thread so it didn't fully disappear.

Amanda brought this fun Grinch quilt.  She chose the Quirky pantograph which i think is a fun addtion.
