Turning Twenty

Dorothy made this lovely cozy brushed cotton Turning Twenty quilt.  The warm and inviting fabrics are from Holly Taylor's Trails End line for Moda.

Dorothy selected the Come Dance with Me pantograph and a lovely green thread for the quilting that picked up on the color of the backing fabric perfectly.

Mary's Five Yard Quilt

Mary made this lovely version of the 5 Yard Quilt Pattern.  The focus is the beautiful floral print from Rifle Paper company's Wildwood line - called Petite Garden Party in blue.

Mary made this pattern her own by slightly changing the colour placement in the blocks.  It is a small change but is very effective.

Mary close he Feather Unfurled pantograph and I love the delicate floral touch it added.

Petal Junction in From Far and Wide

This pretty version of our Highway 10 Designs Petal Junction quilt was made by Leslie at Keystone Modern Creative as a store sample.  Leslie chose to feature the "From Far and Wide " fabric collection by Kate and Birdie for Moda Fabrics.

The large blocks of the Petal Junction pattern allow you to see so much of the detail of the prints.  It works with Half Yard or Fat Quarter cuts

Leslie chose the Lithe pantograph for the quilting and it shows up beautifully on the green Fireside backing.

Kool Kaleidoscope

Colleen made this fun version of Ricky Tims' Kool Kaleidoscope pattern.  Originally Colleen thought that she would quilt this herself as it isn't overly large, but the unique shape of the yellow corners had Colleen stumped and she decided she would rather have me do the quilting instead.

Figuring out a plan for the corners had me scratching my head,  so I sent a picture to Desley who had done a lot of custom quilting over the years and  her doodles gave me some new ideas that led to this corner design.

I quilted simple petal shapes in the centre star using the seam lines as my guide.  The bold batik colours hid my thread a lot of the time so I was able to use a golden yellow colour throughout the whole quilt.

I repeated the motifs from the corners in the different colored sesctions, adding lines, curls and circles as well as a few more petals.

Last but not least I added a beadboard design to the outer border to frame the whole piece.

And fun didn't stop on the front - check out the backing Colleen provided!

To Give & To Receive

Reneta makes a lot of scrap quilts using 2" squares for the most part.  She has made this particular scrap quilt at least twice now and the pattern is very appealing.  The pattern is called "To Give and To Receive" and was originally published in American Patchwork and quilting but is now available on apqshop.com here

I quilted Reneta's other version of this quilt with my freehand topographical meander and we decided we loved that one so much that we would repeat the design again here.

Easy Signature Cross Quilt

This beauty was made by Madeline.  The pattern is called the  Easy Signature Cross Quilt from Sew Can She.  The fabulous fabric is  the More Pie? fabric line from Dana Willard for Figo Fabrics.

Madeline selected the Tickle Too pantograph and requested an orange thread to match the bananas in the fabric.  I sent a picture of some options ranging from light coppery brown to goldfish orange to orangey yellow. We decided the coppery brown was the perfect choice.

And for some added fun on the solid navy backing I repeated the coppery thread instead of using a matching navy like I typically do.

Low Volume Squares

Amy made this pretty quilt that highlights the many interesting low volume fabrics in her stash.

Amy selected the Knit 1 Purl 2 pantograph which is very pretty and adds some nice movement to the quilt.

I enjoyed looking at all the interesting fabrics contained in each block.  So many little treasures.
