Sky Cabin

Shelly brought this striking quilt with a fun retro vibe.  The pattern is called Sky Cabin from Toad and Sew.  It is a clever take on a traditional log cabin block.

Shelly chose the geometric Bauhaus Baby pantograph and we used a soft peach coloured thread.  Shelly added a cozy flannel backing.

This one looked really good in my spare room.  It was a little hard to say goodbye!

Mountainside

Denise made a pair of Mountainside quilts using the lovely "Smoke and Rust" fabric collection from Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics.  This fabric seemed to be everywhere this summer but these are the first quilts i have seen completed using the line.

Denise selected the Bauhaus Baby Pantograph for the first quilt that she added a cream colured backing to.

The second quilt received the Hall of Mirrors pantograph, and the backing was a lovely orange fabric.

Touchdown

Reneta sent this awesome version of the Cluck Cluck Sew pattern called "Touchdown."    She used her local high school colours for the background fabrics and I think the combination is very striking.

Reneta selected the Bauhaus Baby panto.  Although our combined football knowledge is relatively non-exsistent, we thought it looked like football plays being drawn on a chalkboard.  I think it is a great compliment to this quilt.

And and a bonus here is an example of another modern panto that seemed to be the perfect fit.  Diane made the quilt for her granddaughter to use as a prize at a wedding social.  It was a simple top, but once it was quilted it really looked cool and modern.  Pantograph is called Hall of Mirrors.

I just love this quilt made by Cheri.  I had a smile on my face the whole time I was quilting it.

Cheri had a really good idea of what she wanted when she brought this quilt over.  She wanted to see the Bauhaus Baby panto, and we didn't need to look any further.  Perfect choice!  We ended up using So Fine # 510 in a color called Grotto.

I think everyone knows by now that I personally am not a huge fan of Cuddle/Minkee fabrics.  I think they feel slippery, but kids and adult seem to love cuddling under them.  I have to admit that the grey Cuddle on the back does look fabulous!

Cheri made this quilt to keep at her house for her grandson to use when he is there.  She did make it a little bigger than the pattern so that there is room for Grandma to cuddle under it too!Cheri is always great at remembering the names of patterns, designers and fabric collections - this pattern is called "Tagged" from the book Growing Up Modern by Allison Harris.  The fabric is Moda's "Mixed Bag."

Scraps Squared!

This fantastic scrap quilt belongs to Patrice. It is a biggie and the front and the back use a wide variety of fabrics. The quilt has a great story too.

Patrice shared that this quilt was started 10+ years ago.  She and her daughter saw the idea on TV and her daughter wanted one just like it. Her daughter loved the idea of random colors in each block, but Patrice confessed that she suffers from "matchy-itis" and thought she would have a breakdown trying to follow that path, so most blocks have a theme.

Patrice used fabric leftovers from clothes she sewed for her daughters and herself as well as some quilting scraps from her sister.  There was cotton, linen, slippery things, denim and corduroy.  Her daughter has no idea that she pulled the project out and finished it, so it should be a wonderful surprise.

Patrice had a vision for the quilting and sifted through the hundreds of pantograph options available on one of my favorite sites - Urban Elementz.  She chose "Bauhaus Baby" and I was happy to add it to my collection.  It has a nice modern feel and is very different than anything I have used in the past.

And when ordering a new panto, I can't stop at just one, so here are the other new pantos in my collection:

Breath of the gods

Bayside
Ebb & Flow
Falling Leaves
