Daisy Chain

Mitzy brought this vibrant quilt.  The pattern is called Daisy Chain from Melissa Marginet.

The focus fabric she chose is a really cool beaded flower print, which guided the decision to use the floral themed Dainty pantograph.  We tested a variety of thread colors before settling on So Fine #450 - Spring Green.  It blended well into all the fabrics and didn't draw too much attention to itself.

BQ3

Susan brought this wonderful quilt that is made from the Maple Island Quilts BQ3 pattern.  The series of BQ patterns have large pieces that allow you to enjoy a print without chopping it up too mauch.

We decided on the Dainty pantograph as it also has a bit of a larger scale and seemed to balance with the piecing and the prints really well.

Pretty Quarter Sections

Sandra made this really pretty version of our Highway 10 Designs -  Quarter Sections pattern. Sandra dug into her leftovers from other projects in florals and pastels to put this top together.  She also got creative with the backing.

Sandra chose the Dainty panto to keep with the feminine feel.

Spring is here at last!

Charm Squares Quilt & A Wallet for me!

This sweet baby quilt was made by Cheri.  The pattern is Charm (and 10!) Squares by Elizabeth Hartman and it is a freebie.

Cheri provided a cuddle backing, so we used Quilter's Dream Puff batting and the Dainty panto.  We used a lovely soft variegated thread that looked lovely with all the fabrics.  Is is Fantastico #5024 - Opalescence.

I received this little pack of remnants of Moda "Wishes" fabric at a retreat last fall.  I finally found the perfect project for them.  I decided to make something just for me this wallet.

I found this great tutorial from the Confessions of a Fabriholic blog.  I followed the tutorial pretty closely with two minor changes.  I added a button instead of a snap for the closure on the tab, and instead of vinyl for the outer fabric, I decided to use a quilted layer.

I might seem a little crazy to quilt such a small piece on a big longarm, but why not?  It was momentarily empty and ready to go.  I didn't use a backing fabric I loaded the batting on the leaders and used a layer of cotton top.

.
The tutorial was great.  I love the card slots, slip pockets and zippered pocket.  It was very difficult to get the corners turned out nicely, but eventually I got the job done.   It was a quick project and fun to do a little something just for me.

Black, White & Red - Perfect Ten

This is Sheri's "Perfect Ten" Quilt.  Sheri's black and white collection of fabrics had some great pops of red and adding the red"frames" really brought that out.  Sheri asked for a feminine panto and "Dainty" echoed the motifs in her fabric really well.

I decided on red thread top and bottom. I like how the thread blends in nicely on the solid red frames and it very subtle on the black and white prints.  I usually match my bobbin thread to the back of the quilt, but this one was calling out to be just a little different. The Bottom Line thread that I used is very thin, so it isn't really dramatic but it does add some interest to the back of the quilt.

Thanks Sheri, this is a fun one!
