Don't Put Baby In the Corner

Madeline made this super cozy quilt out of a collection of Mammoth Flannels.  The pattern is called Don't Put Baby in the Corner by Fabriculous.

Madeline chose the Dazzle pantograph and added a nice charcoal Stonehnege flannel on the back.  We added the black Quilters Dream Midnight poly batting to help keep any lint down to a minimum.

Kaleidoscope Stripes and Plaids

Deb made this fun quilt using the plaids and strips from the Allison Glass Kaleidoscope collection.    You will notice from the lack of snow on the ground in these photos that I haven't posted in a while and it is time to catch up.  It is a full winter wonderland here now!

Deb chose the Dazzle pantograph and as always it shows up so well on the Fireside backing.

Two for Colleen

Colleen brought over two lovely lap quilts.  The first is this bright and cheery sampler with the sweetest little 6" blocks.  Colleen had a vision for the quilting  - she new she wanted something soft and curved that was dense enough to match the scale of the quilt.  A new pantograph in my collection called Dragon's Breath was the perfect fit.

The second quilt was this lovely broken herringbone.  Colleen selected the Dazzle pantograph to finish this one off.

Colleen added a cool block/label to the back of the quilt which is pretty and functional.

Four Lovely Quilts

In the spirit of catching up on sharing more of the lovely quilts that have been hiding on my camera roll I have four more for you today!  First up are two from Mitzie.  The first one, Mitzie referred to as her "Arizona quilt.'  After I sent some pantograph options, Mitzie decided that the Breath of the gods pantograph was just the look to complete her vision.

The next quilt was a result of a charm pack and some stash fabric and some creativity.  It was going to her granddaughter so the Fanciful Fliers pantograph was just the right fit.

Karen made this bright and cheerful quilt for her granddaughter. I quilted the stars pantograph in white a shiny white Magnifico thread.

And last but not least another granddaughter is receiving this quilt made by Pam.  The Dazzle pantograph was just the right finish for the bold black, grey and red combo.

Eleanor's Mini Lug Nuts

This hexagon quilt was made by Eleanor. It is so cheerful and fun, just like Eleanor who I finally got to meet in person.  I have quilted for Eleanor before, but as she lives in Michigan and I live in Manitoba we hadn't met.  Her quilts always came to me through her daughter and my friend Dawn.

Eleanor based her quilt off our Lug Nuts pattern, but since she had fat quarters instead of yardage and a 6" instead of a 10" 60 degree triangle ruler she just adapted things to suit her.

Eleanor had a very clear vision of the kind of quilting she wanted.  She was immediately drawn to the Dazzle pantograph, as she didn't want any curvy quilting lines.  I tried to show her some other options, but the artist knew what she liked!

The back is really fun as well and shows off the texture of the Dazzle panto really well.

Simple and Striking

This quilt was sent to me by Trina.  She made it for her son who just graduated and is off to University in the fall.  He didn't think he needed at quilt at first, but Trina wore him down and decided on a simple pattern. After seeing the first couple of rows, Chris asked if Trina could add a little bit of red, and her layout took shape.

The backing in pieced in a large scale version of the front.  Keeping with the simple theme, the "Dazzle" panto was the choice.

Trina asked for one bit of personalization in the quilting, which I always love to do.  The request was for the number 14 to be quilted into a corner in red thread.

After completing the stitching on the front, I used my template on my pantograph at the back of the machine to show me where I needed to stop so that I wouldn't stitch through the numbers.  I repositioned the template as I advanced the quilt.

Here is the end result with the panto surrounding the lettering.  This is the first time that I did something like this is the midst of a panto, and I was very pleased with the outcome.  And it really wasn't a lot of futzing about either!

Dazzle

The block of the month project belongs to Deanna.  She told me it was 17 years old - she knows as she remembers working on this when her now 17 year old son was a baby.  I love being able to help quilters get their projects out of the cupboard and completed.

Deanna prefers less dense quilting, so we decided on the "Dazzle" panto with Dream Puff batting.

Deanna wanted to use of fabric she had on hand so provided muslin for the backing.  I prefer to match my bobbin thread to the quilt back instead of using the same color as the top thread.  I was hoping that I would be able to get the tension just right to balance the charcoal thread on the top and the light cream on the back.

My Innova did not let me down! Beautiful tension giving the calm look I was hoping for on the back and allowing the texture of the panto to shine through.  It was a happy quilting day for sure!

Nothing Runs Like a Deere!

If you were a three year old boy and your Grandma Lorraine gave you this quilt wouldn't you be thrilled?  I think one little boy is going to be very excited.

Lorraine provided a very lofty polyester batting that helps show off the quilting really well on this cozy flannel backing.  The panto we chose was called "Dazzle" and its simplicity seemed to fit in really well.

You can notice in the background of this picture that some other renovations have begun at my house.  Below is the before picture.  We have disliked the fake rock around the fireplace since the day we purchased this house, but there were many other priorities so this one had to wait.  I really like our Tyndall stone fireplace, but didn't think the rock did anything for it.  A little more mudding and sanding before I have to decide on a paint color.
