2 For Eileen

Eileen made this darling Patchwork Heart baby quilt.  The pattern is from Brenda Ratiff from Just a Bit Frayed.

Eileen had a fun collection of fabrics with tone tone bears, so the Gummy Bears pantograph seemed like the perfect fit.  I can't remember the last time I stitched this one out!

Some fun blue thread and a cheerful backing make for a happy finish.

Eileen also made this finished up this Yellow Brick Road quilt.  The blocks were made years ago, but she never got them put into a top until recently.  The dark red inner border really make the top pop and ties the border fabric in so well.  This one got the Calder pantograph.

Bears & Blocks

This cute baby quilt was made by Eileen.  It is generous size and will last into toddler-hood and beyond.  The pattern is called Tumbling Blocks by It's Sew Emma.  Eileen requested the "Gummy Bears" panto and I think it was the perfect choice to go along with the bear printed fabric in the blocks.

We decided on a white Magnifico thread and Dream puff batting which shows off the quilting really nicely.

And check out the adorable backing fabric - more bears - super cute!

Eileen does not yet know if the recipient is a boy or a girl, but will add either a blue or pink binding to finish it off when she hears the news.  I think this is a great gender neutral quilt, which isn't always easy to do.  Great job Eileen!

Baby Charm Quilt

This cute baby quilt belongs to Sheri.  The fabrics had great cartoon animals and the "Gummy Bears" panto seemed like the perfect fit. I used Dream Puff batting and Omni thread.

Sheri provided a minky backing fabric.  When I first saw it I was a little concerned as I had never quilted with minky before.  I did my research on how most longarmers handle loading the stretchy fabric, and then did the opposite!  Most people load the fabric with the stretch perpendicular to the rollers. This seemed opposite to my thinking, but the overriding factor for me was the nap of the fabric.  I knew I wanted to have the nap running from head to toes on those cute little bears, not side to side.  So I loaded the fabric with the stretch parallel to the rollers.  I was careful to watch the tension in my side clamps. I am happy to report it didn't give me any problems, and I no longer need to fear minky.

Fleece Gummy Bears

I am really enjoying making these double fleece blankets as baby gifts.  With no piecing, they really come together quickly.  I had a baby shower to go to this weekend, and used a new panto called "Gummy Bears" for this one.

For tips on making the fringe cutting easier see my post here.

I also added five other new pantos to my collection.  I am looking forward to trying more of them out.
