Fading Charms x 3

These three charming quilts were made by Reneta.  She is on a mission to tame her 2" squares and has challenged herself to make 10 of these in 2026.  The pattern is called Fading Charms and is a free tutorial from Wedding Dress Blue.

Reneta left the quilting choices in my hands.  I added the Cinnamon Swirl pantograph to the one with the navy background.

This sunny yellow one received the Plush pantogrpah.

And the peachy pink one got the Pretty Posies pantograph.

A white background looks nice on a scrap quilt, but I do love these more unique backgrounds.  They give the quilts their own personality.

 

Blue and Yellow Stars

Karen made this sweet quilt, as a donation to a new Ukrainian family that is expecting a new baby in the near future.  The pattern is a free download from Pat Sloan's blog called "Quilters Stand for Ukraine."

Karen's fabric choices for the front and the cozy minkee backing are just lovely.  I added the plush pantograph for a light finish to keep it nice and cuddly.

 

Flannel Star Fling

 

Reneta loves to use every bit of fabric and not let any go to waste.  Over the last number of years Reneta had been buying bolts of grey flannel wide back and using it on the back of all her quilts.  She averages 20-30 quilts a year, so that makes for a lot of off cuts from long arm quilting.  Reneta took all the odd bits and made a darling little lap quilt.

The pattern that Reneta used is called Star Fling.  It was free on a fabric website once upon a time.  Reneta chose the Plush pantograph and we decided to have some fun and use a yellow thread for the quilting.

I love to trim up the quilts I return to my clients and I always put everything I trim into the bag with the quilt so they can decide if it is a useable scrap or garbage.  Reneta truly made something from nothing with this one!

Karen's Memory Quilts

I recently had the privilege of quilting three very special quilts for Karen. Karen made three unique memory quilts for her sisters out of their father's shirts.

The first one based on the Crossroads quilt block, got the London Fog pantograph.

The second one got the Gingersnap pantograph.

The third one, based on the "Chandelier 2 " pattern got the Plush pantograph.

When Karen came to pick up the quilts she brought along the labels she had made, and I think they are awesome.  She used the shirt collars in the most creative way.  Each of her sisters selected a different photo of Dad that was meaningful to them.   Karen also included the pattern inspiration and date as well as my name as quilter under the collar.  The quilts were already aweome but the labels are just the icing on the cake!

Mona's Stack n Whack

This fun Stack and Whack quilt was made by Mona.  I love how the technique creates so many unique blocks.

I used the "Plush" panto and a mossy green thread that blended well into all the colors in the quilt.

Mona chose one of my Stonehenge wide backings and Quilters Dream Blend batting to complete her quilt.

Stars and Logs

This beauty was made by Muriel.  Muriel is the mother-in-law of my good friend and fellow quilter Sandra.  Muriel usually quilts her own quilts on her domestic machine - (even the giant Thimbleberries Block of the Month kind), but decided to mix things up with this one.  

I sent a variety of panto suggestions that would offer nice even texture, and Muriel narrowed it down to a few favorites, but left the ultimate decision of thread and panto to Sandra and I.  Plush was on all our short lists and I think the end result is really nice.

Muriel was able to find this wide backing that complimented the quilt so well.

This pattern was adapted from a Block of the Month called "Stars and Logs" from a now closed quilt store.  (I couldn't locate a pattern by that name in my quick internet search.)

Friendship Stars

This quilt is perfect for the season and was made by Grace.  Looking at this quilt I am reminded that quilts do not need to be complicated to be lovely - one block made in 5 colorways and simple sashing to pull it all together yields a great result.

Grace prefers less dense quilting, so opted for the "Plush" panto.  She provided a rich copper Fairy Frost backing for a nice complete look.

Ina's Scrap Quilt

The is the first in a series of quilts Ina is making for the beds in her local care home.  She provided me with a light weight poly batting that will be perfect for its intended use.  Ina is trying to work he way through her fabric stash and this simple pattern is a great way to tie lots of different fabrics together.

 I used the "plush" panto for a not too dense, nice even texture over the whole quilt, in a blue So Fine! thread that matched the thin lattice strips.
