Christmas Figs

This beautiful sampler quilt was made by Marion.  The pattern is from Fig Tree and Co and is called Christmas Figs.  Marion's color palette is so different from the original it is almost hard to believe it is the same pattern!

Marion used fabrics from the City Lights collection from Northcott fabrics and as you can see the results are stunning.

Marion asked me to select the pantograph for this one.  I find it less stressful and prefer to work with my clients to select the designs, but because I have gotten to know Marion's style I agreed.  I selected the Yo-yo pantograph for its round shapes and movement that it has across the quilt.

Marion added the wide backing from the City Lights collection to really pull a cohesive look together.

Midsummer

Marlene brought this great fall quilt.  The pattern is called Midsummer by Prairie Grass Patterns.  The fabric collection is called Spellbound by Sweet Fire Road for Moda.

Marlene chose the Yo-yo pantograph and So Fine #428 Copper thread.  We both felt the shape of the yo-yo pantograph complimented the moon motifs in the fabric really well.

Cabin Nights

Marlene brought this quilt made in a delightful neutral palette.  The pattern is from  a Manitoba designer - Prairie Quilt Co. and is called Cabin Nights.

Marlene selected the Yo-Yo pantograph which adds a nice even texture across the top.

The cozy fireside backing looks so inviting and shows off the quilting wonderfully.

Sports Quilts for Cindy

Cindy brought a pair of sports themed quilts that she made for her grandsons.  The hockey themed quilt she bought as a kit.  The pattern is called Just Add Ice by Miss Winnie Designs and was designed to feature the Northcott "All Star Hockey" Collection.  Cindy selected the Yo-Yo pantograph for this one.

The second quilt was soccer themed, and Cindy used the pattern as a starting point and made up her own plan.  This quilt received the Quirky pantograph.

Both quilts were backed with Cuddletex and had finishing touch added by Bindings by Marion.

Scrap Crazy!

My good friend and client Reneta is scrap crazy!  I recently had the pleasure of quilting these two labours of love.  There are just shy of 3500 -  2" squares in EACH of them!

The quilts were quilted with two different pantos and a variegated multicolored thread.  Grey flannel backing on both.

Flirtatious is the panto on the first one.

Yo-Yo is the second panto.

I had a lot of fun looking for fabrics from past projects that I have quilted for Reneta and scraps that made their way from my collection to hers.  I am still amazed by the amount of cutting, sewing and careful pressing that was put into each of these!

Gail's Circle Dance

This beauty was made by Gail for her granddaughter.  Gail used the Crazy Curve 7" and Small Path 3.5" templates from Elisa's Back Porch to create the quilt.  The quilt is based on the Circle Dance pattern that it is included with the templates, but Gail put her own "Peacful" twist on it.

Instead of just joining 4 quarters together for the small circles, Gail tweaked the piecing to create Peace Symbols.  Love it!

Gail provided her favourite Hobbs 1000% cotton batting. She selected the "Yo-Yo" panto and asked that I select a thread that blended in as much as possible.  After a number of tries it was a very dark purple  - So Fine! #439 Amethyst  that didn't call too much attention it itself.

Gail creatively pieced he back with extra blocks and some fabric from her stash.

Because I knew this quilt was intended for a special individual I asked Gail if she would like me to add her granddaughter's name to the quilt. I loved how it turned out.

Picnic Day

Eileen made this cheerful quilt.  The pattern is called Picnic Day and it was from the Spring 2016 issue of Fons and Porter's Easy Quilts

We auditioned a number of pantos but when "Yo-Yo" entered the race, it was the clear winner.  Eileen left the thread selection up to me and I opted for a Magnfico in a very light grey.

Eileen selected one of my new Stonehenge backings.  I just love this light grey color and I think it will be very popular.

Such a pretty summer palette!

My John Deere

This fun quilt was made by Dorothy.  A panel in the center, with some creative piecing to make a fun quilt for a lucky little guy.

Dorothy chose the yo-yo panto.  I was a little tricky to decide on a thread to compliment the quilt.  I usually try to select a thread that shows up evenly on the majority of the fabrics in the quilt.  Everything was looking a little sad and murky, so I went for a bold John Deere Green instead.  It stands out quite a lot in the sky and on the solid yellow fabric, but I like the overall look.

Dorthy used a variety of the left over fabrics from the front to piece this cheerful quilt back.

Italian Tiles

This wonderful quilt belongs to Dorothy.  The pattern is called Italian Tiles from the book Strip Therapy 8 by Brenda Henning.

Dorothy chose the "Yo-Yo" panto and I used a variagated Lava thread.  As the top and the back were both very dark we decided that Quilter's Dream Midnight poly batting would be a good choice.

I think the thin black accent in this pattern really makes it.  I did ask Dorothy if it was hard to work with, and she said it went together very nicely.

And once again, things made with a Cappuccino Bali Pop, just look great in my living room ;)!
