Love Stinks & A Cute Koala

Becky made this darling quilt from the Love Stinks pattern from Art East Quilt Company.  She selected the Heartstrings pantograph to continue the theme.

Susan brought this cute koala baby quilt over for some quilting.  The pattern is from the Quilting Daily Patch Pals collection and is called Aussie Patch.

Susan left the quilting choice up to me and I thought the leaves of the Novaya Zhihn pantograph were a nice compliment.

Memory Quilts and More

Jukipa brough 4 quilts for special little people in her life.   The first two are memory quilts that she was asked make for two little boys from pajamas and jeans of her daughter.

This first of the two memory quilts received the Quirky pantograph that is shown above and the second received the Gingersnap pantograph.

Jukipa also made two identical quilts for her granddaughters.  I love the cute llama print.  We decided to use similar but different hear pantographs - Ginger Heart on the first and Heartstrings on the second.

Heartstrings

I don't usually start by showing the back of a quilt first, but these little mice are just too cute!  I have two baby quilts to share today.  Both of the makers selected the Heartstrings panto for a sweet finish.

The first quilt was made by Amy for her great niece.  I used a variagated Fantastico thread in  colour #5024 Opalescence for a little extra colour and shine that is still soft and pretty.

I also had the pleasure of quilting this darling quilt for Gay.  Gay took a portion of the blocks from what was supposed to be a larger project that she wasn't loving to make them into something she did.

I used white thread on the front and back of this one.  And another super cute backing for this one!

Pixelated Heart 2

Reneta sent this sweet Pixelated Heart Baby quilt for the same treatment that the last one got.  Reneta is a very generous quilter and is always giving things away so if she loves a project she oftern makes it more than once.

The Heartstrings panto is a nice simple finish. I always love to personalize quilts when the opportunity arises, and since Bria had already made her appearance I decided to include her name in the quilting.

This pink flannel backing is the perfect cozy touch!

Reneta's Pixelated Heart Quilt

Reneta made this super cute baby quilt off some ideas she saw on Pinterest.  The picture that caught her eye first were from the blog post from Renewing Mrs. Sew & Sew.  The original idea came from Blue Elephant Stitches and you can see that version here.  Reneta used 3" squares and added her own borders ideas to make a rectangular rather than square quilt.

Reneta has originally asked for a flowery panto, but nothing I had seemed the right scale, so when I suggested Heart Strings, Reneta was on board.  I normally choose more matching thread, especially on the back, but I decided to do a medium pink front and back.  The Dream Puff batting makes for a lovely weight with flannel backing.

This is such a sweet quilt and aside from the back ground came right from the pink scrap bucket.  Inspired to make your own?

Floral Heartstrings

Gail made this pretty floral quilt as a graduation gift.  The floral print she used is really the star of this quilt.  I am not usually a floral person, but I really loved this one.

Gail chose the "Heartstrings" panto, and the hearts and ribbons add to the feminine style of the quilt.  I used a soft green color in both my top and bottom threads.

Wrought Iron

I know I have been a little slow in sharing some of the quilts I have been working on, but I will try to make up for it by sharing three today!

This is another one of Ina's lattice quilts that she is making for her local care home.  I used the "Wrought Iron" panto. I have had this one in my collection for a long time, but hadn't found the right opportunity to try it out.  I thought it suited this quilt really well and I love how it looks on the back.

Another Disappearing Nine Patch from Ina.  She starts with 5" squares for those of you who are wondering.  This one got the "Flirtatious" panto.

This one came to me from Ruth.  She is donating this one to the New Horizons Senior Centre in Winnipegosis and they will raffle it to raise money for the centre.

Ruth chose the "Heartstrings" panto, and I'm glad I have stocked up on my colors of So Fine thread over the years as I had the perfect dark mauve to compliment the background fabric.

Ruth also chose one of my Stonehenge backings and the quilting shows up really nicely!

Baby Girl Quarter Sections

I was invited to a baby shower for a cousin of mine and needed a quick quilt for the new baby girl as I didn't have a lot of time to get it in the mail.  Quarter Sections to the rescue!    My girls helped me pick out the 5 fat quarters and border fabric at Fabriculous in Swan River.

We decided on cuddle fabric for the back, which isn't my usual choice, but it does show off the quilting really nicely.  The panto I put on this one is called "Heart Strings."

And before it was time for it to get in the mail I couldn't resist a photo with our original baby boy version of the pattern.

The Quarter Sections pattern is available in our Etsy shop or Craftsy shop.
