Washboard Road

Eileen made this bright and cheerful quilt for a special nephew.  The pattern is called Washboard Road by Highway 10 Designs and is available in both a PDF instant download or paper version from www.highway10designs.com

We used the Soho pantograph that compliments the texture in the Twist by Dashwood Studio fabric collection.

Sydney's City Slicker

Sydney made this lovely version of the Highway 10 Designs City Slicker pattern. The pattern uses one jelly roll and some background fabric.  The fabric collection that she used was an older Hoffman Bail pop with a lovely warm colour palette.

Sydney selected the Bora Bora pantograph for the quilting design.

I know Sydney was giving this quilt away as a gift and I'm sure the recipient will be thrilled!

Batik Washboard Road

This version of the Highway 10 Designs Washboard Road pattern was made by me for a wedding gift.  I had a Hoffman Bali Pop in the Cappuccino colorway that I had been saving and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to cut into it.

I found a Moda Grunge fabric for the background and a nice dark batik for the border to bring it all together.

For the quilting I used the Mimosa pantograph.  You get to see quite a few pictures of this one as my helper was available and the sun and wind were in my favour!

If you have a jelly roll or bali pop waiting for the perfect project, Washboard Road is available as a pdf download or in paper format on the Highway 10 Designs website.

Washboard Road

Barb made the absolutely stunning version of the Highway 10 Designs Washboard Road pattern.  I love the colors of this quilt! Barb used a a jelly roll of Sunshine Soul by the Create Joy Project for Moda and the background is a lovely Chalk and Charcoal from Robert Kaufman in the Midnight color.

Barb chose the Gingersnap pantograph for the quilting.  I was having a great tension day and I was able to match a fuchsia thread to the backing and a dark teal thread on the front.  (Love my Innova longarm!)

And check out the fabulous pieced backing Barb made.  She used all the leftover bits from the jelly roll strips and some of the background fabric to create this interesting band for the back of the quilt.

Beautiful quilt Barb, someone was very happy finding this under the Christmas tree!

Amy's Washboard Road

This is Amy's amazing version of our new Highway 10 Designs Washboard Road quilt pattern.  Amy chose a navy background that sets off the colours of the Ombre Confetti Metallic jelly roll just perfectly.

Amy selected the Oasis pantograph and I used a shiny navy Magnifico thread.  I haven't used this pantograph a lot, but I really like how it looks and have to remember it more often.

I quilted this quilt, but it took a little detour through Emo, Ontario so Kathy could take some more photos for Highway 10 Designs before it returned home to Amy.  We caught a few different Canadian seasons in the process!

Washboard Road is available in both PDF and paper format  at www.highway10designs.com and is on sale (along with everything else in the store) until November 15.

Washboard Road by Highway 10 Designs

Let me introduce you to the newest pattern from Highway 10 Designs - Washboard Road.
This is the 15th pattern Kathy and I has designed as Highway 10 Designs and we are celebrating with a sale! From now until November 15th all paper and PDF patterns in our store are 15% off!

This pattern is designed to use your favorite precut fabric. Originally conceived to use jelly rolls, Kathy and I quickly realized that this pattern works just as well with Fat Quarters and even Fat Eighths!  The pattern includes instructions for 4 size options including Throw, Twin, Queen and King.

I made the quilt featured on the cover this time around and I am loading up this post with photos because I just love it so much!  The fabric is Fairy Dust by V & Co. for Moda.  I used the Twister pantograph for a simple clean finish, and a silver Maginifico thread to echo the metallic elements in the fabric collection.

Washboard Road is perfect for an experienced beginner and beyond.  I'm sure many quilters out there have purchased a precut because it was "so pretty", but didn't really have a plan, and now it is just waiting on shelf for the right pattern to come along.  Washboard Road might just be that pattern! Washboard Road is available in both PDF download and paper formats on our website.

I'll give you a sneak peak of Amy's version with a rich navy background and the borderless option.  I'll share more in my next post tomorrow!

City Slicker - Custom Quilting

Patrice sent me this beautiful version of our Highway 10 Designs City Slicker pattern.  Patrice upsized the original patternfrom 60" x 84" to 87" x 96" so it would fit a bigger bed.

This quilt is a wedding gift for her daughter and son-in-law so Patrice requested custom quilting to make it extra special.  She really liked the designs I did on my original version of the quilt, so we proceeded with that plan.  I used black thread for all the quilting.

Patrice sent a solid black backing so I suggested used Quilter's Dream Midnight Poly batting.  The quilting shows up so well on the solid backing!

I just love this version of City Slicker.  The jelly roll friendly pattern is available as a pdf download or in paper form through the mail from our Highway 10 Designs Etsy Shop.
